what i find hilarious is how far all our political ideology (mine included) lean towards the libertarian spectrum but canada is pretty much the antithesis of libertarianism

That's why we as a society need to evolve our voting system. We have a choice of 2 similar people who are our "representatives" - they make our decisions for us, without us having any say.
One of my friends was suggesting a internet based voting system where we get to vote on the most important issues. I think that's the way it should be but obviously, there will be people trying to hack it.

It's because many Canadians pay more attention to American politics, than our own. Understandable, the characters, I mean, politicians, are often more suited to being reality TV show stars than actual political leaders; it's pretty entertaining.
The problem arises when Canadians then either abstain from voting or vote for a party based on perceptions and a lively three week election campaign, ignoring party records and the real impact campaign promises will have on our society and economy.

realize were talking a very specific group, like a bunch of 18-40yo guys on a car forum.

i agree, our system representative democracy is a bit of horseshit

for alot of people, myself included the common belief is that the parties are nearly identical hence low voter turnouts: it doesnt matter who you vote for, the end results are the same

isn't that the guy that said the fault of that grandma's death with dementia is because she's an immigrant in canada?
well to be fair can you honestly see a country ruled by the dalai lama? running a government is a bit more complicated than being tolerant and accepting of others. a lot of shitty decisions have to be made for the good of the people. theres nothing wrong with having a variety of political opinions even if some arent popular
