"Is it ok to take my date to McDonalds?"

A topic came up in Revscene chat about whether or not it's appropriate to take your date to McDonalds. Opinions were mixed on the issue and we wanted to get the community's take on the issue.

Drive thru or the lobby, would you take a serious date to McDonalds?

Verdasco 03-28-2012 06:17 PM

Date? No. A casual bite, sure.

CP.AR 03-28-2012 06:20 PM

Don't take her there on an anniversary or birthday or something...
But otherwise, why not if she wants a "cheap date"? My GF wants that sometimes... ie: go out but not spend too much on anything.

smarv 03-28-2012 06:21 PM

First few dates, No. Maybe after you’ve been with her for a while like amuro.

t-o-o-MUCH 03-28-2012 06:23 PM

Depends on the girl... As for me, my gf loves mcd's. For an anniversary side gift was a big mac lol. She would rather me take her there and use the extra money for fun activites.(And no she's not fat) lol

Why settle for McDonalds when BK has a promo just for that very purpose? :toot:

I wouldnt mind for casual bite
first couple of dates prolly not ok to most girls...unless they were actually craving for mcd (ive gone out on mcd date before because i really wanted mcflurry)
I never expect my guys to take me out on 5 star top super fancy restaurant
id probably feel bad if they did
but at least have some respect and show that your trying

jtanner_ 03-28-2012 06:47 PM

Sorry baby, only off the value menu.

Durrann 03-28-2012 06:48 PM

I don't see a problem in that especially if you're the one paying. If a girl is going be to uninterested in you because you take her to mcdonalds, you probably wouldn't want to keep her around anyways.

When I first met my girlfriend in university, I had no car and rented a crappy shared apartment. We would take public transit and frequently resort to mcdonalds because it was cheap and convenient. She didn't care one bit that I wasn't a trust fund baby or mommy and daddy powered. Two years later I've graduated, have my own apartment, vehicles and we're still together. It's hard to find a girl that isn't materialistic now a days (judging from my friends' attempts at relationships) and I'm glad I found one that loves me for me, instead of my possessions.

It seems like the same type of girl that would be offended if you took her to McDonalds, would be the same one's that expect you to open a car door EVERYTIME before they get in.

gloors 03-28-2012 07:05 PM

^ now that kind of girl is hard to find these days like you said.

I'd say only for casual bite ie craving for a McFlurry or Sundae. For me and my ex I'd always take her there during her time of the month cause she just wanted a quick fix for her sweets craving but as an actual date would never take a girl there.

If you are something-teen and sex isn't on the menu then McD's is. If you would like her to put the leg over, then no moneybags, you're gonna need to feed her proper.

dinosaur 03-28-2012 07:12 PM

if she is 9 years old...yes.

Drive-through to grab some nuggets so we can drive somewhere and sit and chat in the car? Absolutely.

Inside McDonalds? Ehh I dunno. I could probably make it work but the odds would probably be against me there.

We should really make this some kind of RS challenge. Propose some difficult dating venues and see if anyone can pull them off ;)

This topic reminded me of the last bar of this song.

All that aside, to me it's cool if you plan on going to something pricey afterwards (hockey game, etc.) or just to have a cheap meal/dessert together, but as a legitimate DATE, it's cut.

Mr.HappySilp 03-28-2012 09:01 PM

If is desert I think is ok. Say after a walk or even after a movie ice-cream sundae isn't so bad.

I wouldn't take a girl to eat at McDix on first date.

yuusha 03-28-2012 09:06 PM

Only if you've already gotten close to the girl.

kwy 03-28-2012 09:48 PM

Almost did one time. She wanted gelato, but it was late. She suggested we go to McD's for ice cream if the gelato place was closed.

urrh 03-28-2012 09:52 PM

i went to wendy's on a first date, but that was after biking around for a while

Recon604 03-28-2012 10:02 PM
