How to fix paint fading/clear coat peeling?

I have a 93 eg hatch in Milano Red and the paint is faded in various places (hood, roof). It's more of a faded pink kind of tone compared to the red on the rest of the car. There's also clear coat peeling on the edges of the roof. Is there anyway I can fix this without having to give the whole car a new paint job?

Also, does anyone have any idea how a DIY paint job would turn out? I was thinking about the idea of painting it in my driveway with a paint gun and then moving it in my garage to dry.. though it seems to be pretty hard to do that without getting dust or other debris on the paint while it's drying on the way into the garage? =s

you can do a test to see if the paint is a 1 stage or 2 stage. take polish and microfiber and rub part of the area. if the microfiber has some paint transfer, its 1 stage.

with a single stage you can polish the paint back up.

if it has a clear coat, that is a clear coat fail. you can not polish it out and bring back the original color. i tried. polishing might even bring it out more and it looks very bad in the sunlight and the only way to fix this, is to repaint the affective area.

you can try to stop further paint fail damage by doing a light clay polish and sealant. the sealant will have some uv protection and it will slow down the spread of the damage.
