Official "Triple Crown" Thread

So Mario Gutierrez won another insane race beating bodiemeister once again just like the Kentucky derby

Potentially the first horse since 1975 to win the triple crown with a jockey from Hastings

Turned $60 into $190 with a bodiemeister place and I'll have another win

El Bastardo 05-19-2012 04:59 PM

Wow. Someone on Revscene plays the ponies. I'm impressed

StylinRed 05-19-2012 05:01 PM

i didnt think anyone but seniors were interested in horse races locally

Hondaracer 05-19-2012 05:46 PM

The last 2 races were absolutely amazing cheering for the home town favorite

Bender Unit 05-19-2012 05:50 PM

It will be coming up short once again at Belmont Park.
Like every year did.

I love horse racing.

Not so much for the gambling aspect, I just love the horses.

I prefer steeplechase to flat racing generally, but it's amazing watching Gutierrez run regardless since he's a local.

Bender Unit 05-20-2012 11:58 PM

^thanks

Suck to be Bodemeister
Twice went for same strategy, Both times runner up

TOS'd 05-21-2012 02:40 AM

Watching (and betting) on horses is a fun way to spend a day.

Hondaracer 05-21-2012 08:59 AM

Bodemeister won't be running at the Belmont so it will be interesting to see what happens as I'll have another seems to like to run behind another horse towards the end, the Belmont is the longest race as well

Holy shit that vid was an intense 1:11!

BaBiE_Bee 05-22-2012 07:40 AM

Bet a $5 win on Mario and won $15.75 :D

Edit:

He's so cute!

InvisibleSoul 05-22-2012 10:03 AM

I was at the track on Saturday, not because I'm personally into the horses, but my wife wanted to go. It was neat being there for Mario's win though.

Even though he has the shot at the Triple Crown, something like 11 or 12 other horses since 1975 have won the first two legs, but failed to win the third... so certainly don't bet the farm that Mario will pull it off.

wreckless 06-06-2012 07:41 PM

As of now I'm going big on Dullahan with a small play on Paynter or Street Life.. although that can all change come Sat.

More than likely IHA will win due to this being one of the worst 3 y/o crops in a while. I really can't see anyone beating him, but there will be no value on him at all.

originalhypa 06-08-2012 08:35 AM

Looks like IHA won't run at Belmont.
I'll Have Another won't race for Triple Crown at Belmont: Trainer

Quote:

Trainer Doug O’Neill told the Dan Patrick Show Friday that the horse ridden by Vancouver jockey Gutierrez is out of the race with tenderness in his right foreleg, and won’t be racing in the Belmont Stakes Saturday.
:(

So close.

Hondaracer 06-08-2012 09:14 AM

Yea disappointing :/

Last horse to win the first two then be scratched was in 1935 :(

Still be at Hastings tommorow

dinosaur 06-08-2012 09:19 AM

damn! i have not watch the other two races (only highlights) but was actually planning on watching this one....

what a bummer :(

wreckless 06-08-2012 10:09 AM

With I'll Have Another out, the adjusted morning line should be similar to this:

Street Life 6-1
Unstoppable U 25-1
Union Rags 3-1
Atigun 25-1
Dullahan 2-1
Ravelos Boy 30-1
Five Sixteen 30-1
Guyana St Dw 30-1
Paynter 4-1
Optimizer 12-1
My Adonis 10-1

MarkyMark 06-08-2012 11:44 AM

Well that's disappointing...not only is the horse out of the race but he's full on retired now, how quickly things change

Gridlock 06-08-2012 11:51 AM

Goes to show you that the sperm is where the money is.

Hondaracer 06-08-2012 12:23 PM

Speculation is stud rights could be worth around 6 million

Vansterdam 06-08-2012 02:59 PM

dam what a way to end .

was really hoping for a win
