Red light camera tickets Here's a question out of curiousity: I'm aware that with a red light camera ticket, they fine the vehicle, but not the driver given that the cameras cannot prove who is driving, therefore no points will be deducted off the original owner's license (I think it says it in the letter? Someone pls confirm). Now if that individual gets it, and ends up disputing it, or admit guilt and ask time to pay, doesn't that mean the ticket will be automatically slapped onto the owner, given that they "revealed" themselves to be the driver? Please clarify. I have $20 on the line for this. Thanks! =) |
IIRC, I read that ISC tickets are sent to the owner of the vehicle (the insurer) by the plates, who may not have been the driver at the time of the capture. One should always be innocent unless proven guilty or you admit to the allegation by paying for it, which can then be disputed normally as you would for any VT... In this case points are not added to the driver's record, unless, once again, you admit to it or are proven guilty. If the owner gets the ticket, and they are not the alleged offender, then I believe they have to nominate the offending driver by submitting a form (with their acknowledgement, of course), and then it gets reissued to the appropriate driver. If none of that happens, the owner of the vehicle shall always be the alleged offender by default, and they have to pay the fine, along with the points that follow. I hope that helped, I think my information is correct. |
thanks dude. Now, can any officers on this forum confirm this? =) |

Unless, the time and effort it would take you to go and dispute is worth less than $20... |
