| Unlock Telus Iphone 4S WITHOUT jailbreaking
is it possible?
I want to do this so I can stick in a Roam Mobility sim when I'm travelling to the US.

Not possible. In fact I don't think it may be possible anymore even with jailbreaking since the exploit was patched in the latest update.

So my option is to pay telus $50 and get it unlocked?!

Go to an apple store and find out the price of an unlocked iphone. Oakridge, Metrotown, Richmond Centre, Pacific Centre, etc.
Something to consider with regards to an unlocked phone vs a carrier locked phone. You're also entering into a 3 year contract with them. An unlocked phone, you can go month to month.

So, it looks like an UNLOCKED iPhone 4s 16gb from apple.ca is $649. Same price as a carrier locked phone. If you're buying outright, looks like it would just be plain stupid to not buy it unlocked if you're buying outright anyway.

And after looking on craigs, the resale value is $100-150 higher for unlocked vs. locked.
