I guess I wasn't clear in my post. Bettman is saying he will not proceed into the season using the same CBA that is set to expire this Sept (NHLPA has gone on record to say they are willing to begin the season without reaching a new deal with the NHL).
The reason why those fuckers want to do that is because without a new deal they can threaten to strike right before the playoffs and the owners would give them whatever they want. This is what happened in 1994 to the MLB and a lot of people are no longer fans of the MLB because of that. Who was the head of the union for MLB's players then? Donald Fehr.
I guess they could sign a no-strike clause but I doubt that.

In his first year with Fribourg-Gotteron, Huet played 41 games and sucked in the second half of the season, posting a 2.84 GAA with the team finishing 8th. They made the playoffs but got swept by HC Davos.
Better the next season posting a 1.99 GGAA in 39 games and finished 3rd that year defeating HC Lugano in the quarterfinals. Lost in the semifinals in 5 games.
