-Some sort of fluids: bring extra water. You can make an iced tea or lemonade as well.
-Sandwiches are easy to make. Just go to your local deli/bakery and buy some good stuff. If you're very lazy, Whole Foods has a variety of good sandwiches.
-Fruits: wash some grapes or strawberries.
-Cheese: Brie or whatever you prefer. How can you not like brie!?
-Smoked salmon
-Easy to eat stuff.

-Sometimes, I'll bring some wine. Depending on where you picnic, you may want to be more discreet about this.

Oh, and don't forget to bring your girlfriend.

Don't forget a blanket and buy a nice picnic basket that has the cutlery plates and win glasses so you can have a nice glass and each, some have a nice cheese kit as well. They make backpack style ones with a built in cooler so u can't even tell it's a picnic basket.

sandwiches are great for a real picnic but I find they are not very romantic and you eat too quickly. Then you have nothing to do. Cheese and wine is always nice to make your picnic long and enjoyable.
