GPW S2000

I have been on craigslist looking for a GPW S2000 and was wondering if a AP1 is really hard to come by? I have seen a couple of AP2 for sale but havent come across an white AP1.

Looking for a used car in a specific color/trim level is ALWAYS going to be difficult, unless it's something along the lines of a civic, or other mass production car.

Canadian spec ap1's in GPW only came only with the blue interior.
US spec ap1's in GPW only with the red interior IIRC.

Are they hard to come by, not really, but then again I don't believe they sold as many GPW as they did in Silverstone, Berlin Black or Red.

GPW is overrated, says the guy with the SSM lol. When I was searching for s2000s, it seemed like there was always a higher demand for the GPW (with red interior); it was priced higher and definitely harder to come by. It helps to be more flexible with your color choice and with other less significant personal preferences. I remember making a criteria list for my perfect s2000 and the one I bought met all of them but one, can't have it all I guess.

Thanks for the reply folks, I like the looks of AP1 (front bumper and rear bumper) I know AP2 is a 2.2L and has a bit more tq. Is there common issues with AP1? I heard 00 diffs go a lot compare to 02+

Here is a link to the, ever-so-popular, guide, "What to look for when buying a used S2000", on S2Ki.

What to look for when buying a used S2000 - S2KI Honda S2000 Forums

It lists the most prominent problems associated with each year and lets you know what to look for. If you haven't already, I highly suggest you do a thorough search of information on S2Ki, it is an abyss of S2000 information.

The older GPW ap2's had a red/black interior while the newer ap2's came in black.

^ hard to say certain colours and trim were offered here in canada while others were offered in the states

I believe the tan interior was only offered in the states but I could be wrong.

Here's a link for the colours, trims and the number of units sold for that year. It's US production only but if you're looking for an s2000 and don't mind US vehicle this could help.

Tan is US spec only.
Oh yeah, GPW was never available in Canada in 00 or 01. 02 was the first year IIRC.

As for the diff issue, no. 04 and newer car's had the clutch delay valve added to spin the clutch before allowing the diff to break. But if you don't drive it like an ass, the clutch is fine for a long time. I had 5 years of autoX which includes a lot of high rpm dumps to spin 245 Hoosiers in my AP1 and the diff held up fine.

if you're looking for a GPW AP1 then you have the following options:

1) 2002 US with all red interior (including dash)
2) 2003 CAD with all blue interior (including dash + softtop)
3) 2003 US with tan interior
4) 2003 US with black interior[EDIT] Apparently not from factory
5) 2000-02 black dash red seats

if you're looking for specifically GPW + all black interior, then you're going to have to look for the following:
2006 US or 2007 CAD

Good luck!

Don't forget the 00 and 01 US spec with the red interior and black top.
IIRC black dash, red seats and red carpet with red doors.

Actually, according to Ziggyx's link, 03 US had the tan interior, never offered black.

yeah, that's part of #5, i just got too lazy to describe carpet + door panels

00-01 US + 02 CAD lumped in there

as for 2003's, i saw a few 2003s with black interior on S2KI when i was looking, but i guess that might just be the owners changing the interior themselves
