No. That's normal wear and tear.

They will cover it but you will pay your deductible. The hood and windshield count as one panel and each other part like fender or bumper have their own separate deductible. So bumper + hood = you pay two deductibles

At least that's what they told me last week

They get paid for answering these types of questions plus you won't get conflicting answers.

+1 but if you touched it up they probably wont cover it. It needs to look like all the rock chips your claiming happened under one incident.

Yes.

It is an insurable loss - provided it happened at one time.
every seperate incident is a seperate claim.

I've submitted multiple claims (I work for Boyd Autobody) for rock chips claims, and have in some circumstances, had complete cars repainted.

Would I have to get it appraised at an ICBC center?

I bought a car at a big discount due to rock chips on front bumper and hood, and have been looking into repainting it assuming it was wear/tear...

But if I were to go to ICBC, what would my options be?

^ ICBC claims are based on incidents, not wear and tear. So you would need to demonstrate that the rock chips happened from one incident, then they would cover you. If they're the result of a few years of highway driving, I believe they won't cover you.

I guess you may be able to get it under one deductible if the previous owner(s) have never brought their vehicle in and had the rock chips documented AND you could somehow prove the chips came on one single incident

Mine was legitimately one incident (dumb overfilled gravel truck) with the exception of two or three chips and got in a heated discussion with the manager who ultimately offered to cover them with five separate deductibles, so best of luck...
(This was at Surrey ICBC claim center)

So I guess I'm out of luck with ICBC.

Chips are old and weathered, so I can't prove they're from one incident. Car is from Honda dealership so I donno previous owner.

And 5 deductibles is $1.5k...which is 2x what bodyshops are quoting to just repaint...lol

Yeah... And that wasn't even going to cover the chips on the side mirrors

It ended up being (slightly) cheaper to claim the hood and windshield under the one deductible and not go through ICBC for the rest
