Is this the Costco in Bellingham that has the steelies for $40? Thinking about getting winter tires down south.

edit* Costco Canada sells steelies, not sure about the states

Anyone predict the snowfall this winter? I am thinking it may rain all winter here making snow tires useless.

Lets hope so! Lol, I'm hoping that it doesn't snow so I don't have to put my Z away. Kind of off topic, but do people usually store their cars away and take out their beaters for the winter?

Please enlighten me, but "snow tires" are still much better over A/S in colder temperatures and rain, right?

I'm assuming they're supposed to be winter tires, and people just call them snow tires?

wouldnt mind 1 or 2 cm of snow on christmas. And yes, last year i bought a second mr2 as a beater and stored my other mr2 away. However, second mr2 spent most of its time in the shop at school rather than outside =(

I used to have Toyo T1Rs on my 10.5" wheels and they were soooo good in the rain. During the rainy seasons, I'd rather have these on than my winters.

I would say winter tires are better for colder temperatures in general, rain or shine.

I hate running snowies early, So i usually (provided i have them mounted and balanced in my garage) Wait until the day before the first snowfall, or the day before whistler/seymour/cypress opens, Then i just put them on myself.

Tires wide enough to fit a 10.5" rim would be brutal in the snow.

If you drive with an awd, DWS is good choice. Otherwise, getting a set of winter set is the best. However, your cost is up.

Does not matter. What are you driving? If it's not a car making huge power, i would look for snowies no wider than a 245, If it IS making huge power, Don't even bother putting snowies on it... Get a winter beater.

I'll put on my X-Ice's when ambient averages drop below 7 degrees. Until then, my Pilot Super Sports are better than any snow tire or all season in the rain.

^ Exactly, so for the winter tire noobs:

Rule of thumb regarding snow tires is to put them on when the temperature hits 7 degrees or lower.

I saw the temperatures creeping down towards 7 degrees, and thought "oh fuck, time to get the winters on." Now the rain's here and it's like 13 degrees outside.
