Back Pain
 
Massage therapy? Chiropractor? BC Back Institute?

Looking to use my health insurance to maybe fix my back. Nothing crazy, just general soreness in the lower region and it cracks sometimes if I twist too much.

check with your dr to see what therapy would be best for your injury. even though you dont think its a major issue, and you think it is just regular soreness, you just never know until you get it checked out.

Ive been dealing with severe lower back pain since my car accident in late 2004. some forms of therapy work, some made the injury worse.

If it's not anything serious, you'll probably get more out of a massage

It isn't severe...it's uncomfortable sometimes when I'm doing something strenuous but not when I'm just sitting or walking.

Looking for something close to Richmond.

most doctors wont recommend a chiro in my experiance

if its just general soreness go with massage therapy

i think playing rugby for 9 years kinda was the start of my back problems but in about 06 i tried to start my dirtbike one day and i twisted my back just right so that 15 minutes later i couldnt get off the couch if the house was on fire

8 chiro sessions later i was back probably above 100% and i thought chiro was the shit

fast forward about 5 years and in that time i had on and off back pain until one day at work i completely fucked it up and tried to go back to a chiro who rarely cracks your back and is focussed more on pushing your muscles etc.

shit didnt work out very well and i spent about 2 months stretching/working on core strength

id say go to massage therapy and get stretches from them

Increase hip mobility by doing some stretches. Youtube how to do it.

This and also work on core stability. Everything from hip bridges, progressive planks, bird dogs, etc. These are all exercises that will help strengthen your "core" which ideally, are muscles that will help stabilize your axial skeleton like the quadratus lumborus, spinae erectors, obliques, rectus abdominis, latissiumus dorsi,etc.

However, don't quote me on this one. Like others have said, consult with your physician first before visiting any specialist, as physicians will be able to better gauge what stage you are at.

In my opinion, your best bet would probably be clinical treatment with either a chiropractor or a physio and then active rehab and then post-rehab exercise/maintenance.

Chiropractor helps a LOT but this is from a disc injury.

Normal back pain can be helped with a foam roller


yes video is kind of gay but this guy is telling the truth.
I got a foam roller from chiro and it was about $15. Its not the same as the swimming foamy things. This thing is stiff.

I roll it once a day and I used to go see chiro twice a week. Now I go once a week.

If you can handle some serious amounts of Pain you can try non-needle acupuncture. They use like a dull spike and dig it right into your pressure points where the needles would normally go. It hurts like crazy but because they are also pressing against the muscles you do get some relief from your muscles as well.

though it could be one of those 'where one pain replaces another'

well a visit to the chiropractor will give you temporary relief for awhile but then maybe work on strengthening lower back muscles to prevent future back pain, and i find that taking potassium helps too

For muscle pain and cramp in the lower back:
Leafy greens for magnesium.
A really hot bath with epsom salts, again the magnesium. So hot you can barely get in. When acclimated add hotter water, fetal position to stretch out the muscles.
There are so many ways to get pain in the lower back besides muscle issues it
would be best to consult a pro, the sports specialist did me a world of good.
