that's for a great condition one with reasonable/lower mileage.

don't know where people are getting these prices,
of course the low mileage, rare colored ones, or V-spec II etc cost quite a bit more... but not a regular GT-R or even V-spec.
I don't know where you're getting your prices

to make it profitable there is a large amount of initial investment involved to get the balls rolling because the R34 still demands a pretty penny over there.

It comes to business sense that with the entry to the market so difficult, that whoever imports these will charge a premium for it to make sense, forget the usual 20~40% margin, I reckon you have to at least make 100% profit out of each one to make sense to get clean cars and cover for expenses and losses in case a lemon came around.

hence the price. Probably 80K car to start? and then slowly dwindle down to about 60k is my forecast. Then a couple years off the lot depreciate to Supra levels which is about 30k. then when the reaches the psychological door frame of 20 years old it will come down to current R32 prices which is like 8-12 for a really nice one.

then I might go get one. In the mean time there's the cheaper sibling the S15.

Amuro, what's the market value for those cars in AU? it might be a good business venture for you to bring shipments of those cars over to Canada when they become legal.

I'm not surprised that the R34 would be demanding such a high price in the local Japan markets. that was the pinnacle of the Skyline based GTR cars. low production numbers, and fantastic styling & performance places the car's value high along side the Honda NSX. we probably won't be seeing many R34's coming ashore since many people can buy a more modern LHD car for the same price as what a landed R34 would sell for.

the R33, for the most part, was sort of a disappoint to enthusiasts in Japan. the wheelbase was too long and the overall car wasn't as celebrated. I also heard something about the odd differentials used that led the R33 to not be as fast as it should have been?

i know the owner of this car. sold him a few r34 goodies. This isnt the normal body kit converted r32, alot of skilled body work, time, and money went into this car.

anyways ive been in the skyline scene for about 5 years now. I dont think we will see alot of r34's rolling around.

Why?

because even the GTT fetch over $10,000 for the nice ones. there are not alot that come up in auction either that are coupes and 5sp and turbo, oh and built in may june july.

but im gunna try my hardest to get the first one on the boat arriving in may

It's going to be very interesting to see what the prices are like for R34 GTT and GTR.

I've owned an 89 Skyline GTR with 60k and sold it for $10k with a blown motor around 4 years ago. Also had an SR20 91 240sx coupe I sold for 10k.

Seems like a decent R32 GTR can be had for about 10k now and an R33 GTR for around 15k. Toyota Supra TT still seems to also fetch a lot of coin. Around 16k or so.

R34 GTR is highly sought after so I wouldn't be surprised if they are 30-35k landed. You hit a price ceiling at some point for which people are willing to pay for an older car vs something like a newer 350Z. RHD cars are not easy to sell once they are here. They are uncommon cars that most people aren't searching for. You have narrowed your buying base down to enthusiasts. Only so many people are willing to drive RHD and deal with the greater challenge/higher pricing for parts. You might get a better deal on one that has already been imported in 2014.

As much as I like the R34 GTR (had a few rides in the old Garage SPL R34), I would prefer an S15 because I would rather work on the SR20 versus the RB26 and like driving a smaller lighter car.

Quickly browsing through Japanese used car websites. R34 are running in 40k at least. Don't expect it to be easily affordable.

If someone could import gtr's into Canada and manage to get them into the states through kit car import or show car (or something...), they would make a killer penny (or I guess Nickel...)

yes..including shipping, tax, registration.

keep if mind this is NA..if you are looking for 5speed Turbo, Most of the one i've seen that is decent in condition, you are looking 8000-12000 + all the fees which will end up around 12-15000.

The sedans seem to go for a little less, no? I noticed that they're a bit cheaper than a lot of the 2-doors.
