Is Boonie's BBQ still/back in business?

Anyone know? If it's still around, where is he now?

Closed. That said, if you wanted catering and are able to find their phone number, they'll still available.

He made a very poor business choice going into that hotel. It was great when he was at the curling rink. Should of stayed small like that

the old place kept, as quote from Mr. Sanders "Nickel and Dimeing" him so he couldn't stand it. The new hotel conflicted with his menu saying it was too "Colorful for their guests" but he obliged and served "White breakfast food" with pancakes, bacon & eggs same as you would find at Denny's, ABC country etc etc still the managers there were pricks pressuring him change his menu further or leave. And also some other legal drama too but wont go into detail. I miss his cooking too.

I miss it too. For what it's worth, the restaurant that replaced him in the hotel is absolutely terrible. We went there for a work function one night (apparently the owner of the restaurant knows one of my employees) and I'm pretty sure they lost money serving all thirty of us. Food came out cold, under/overcooked, super bland, and just overall terrible. Half of the meals ended up being comped by the manager since they were basically inedible.

Boonie's would have been a much better option.

Yup, been to a couple of there locations and all three times shitty service mediocre BBQ. The problem is there aren't a lot of choices around where I live.

When it first opened, it was fucking amazing!

Anyone else agree?

You're right though, last few times I've been, it was very much the McDonald's of BBQ.

Jason, if you are craving BBQ, Peckinpah's is just down the street from you and a good option. Peckinpah Restaurant - Carolina Style Barbecue The "best" BBQ is a pretty subjective thing but it's definitely a tasty dinner and a relatively authentic experience IMO.

Same here, the commercial Drive location seems to have better tasting food than the others, don't know why though.

Another BBQ place I like is Burgers ect on Hastings in N. Burnaby.

Boonies was the shit. I've had the pleasure of dining there twice and it was an unforgettable experience. Best BBQ experience in Van.

I don't agree about the owners, but I agree the portions are reduced from what you get in Vancouver.

The chicken and corn bread has been hit and miss the 4 times I've gone from either pretty good to lousy :/

Ribs are consistently good though; I keep missing out on the burnt ends!
