| Knee Pain..HELP :(
Soooo! I went camping beginning of August this year. The fam decided to do some off logging road hiking to a waterfall. The rocks on this hike were bigger than me. At a certain point, I couldn't get over this one rock. So my cousins gorilla sized boyfriend picked me up and threw me over it. In the process, I panicked and flailed my legs helplessly..... and I smashed my knee into this giant car sized (and otherwise unclimbable) boulder.
Now my issue is, once it started to rain, I noticed that I'm developing a dull, chronic pain in this knee (left one). The more wet it gets out here, the more it hurts. I don't feel any pain when I bear weight on it, it seems only when I'm NOT bearing weight on it. I feel it most when I'm lying down, ready to sleep. The pain can vary from a dull throb to a sharp twist and is located on the medial side (towards the middle). It feels like it's coming from either underneath my knee cap or inbetween the joint....
The top two guesses I have are an MCL injury or a meniscal tear.
I have no swelling, only slight tenderness to touch and my movements aren't very limited at all. It hurts most when my left foot is facing outward.
Anybody ever had anything like this before?
Do you think that the knee smashing + pain are related?
What can I do in the meantime to help with the pain? (Besides taking painkillers)

lol not a stupid question at all. i'm afraid to go to the doctor for some reason. i had so many friends who had knee surgery and couldn't walk for 408505 weeks. i'm afraid they're gonna tell me something like that so i've been putting it off.
i know, ludey.. i should really go
i'm guess i wanna see if anyone maybe had this issue then it cleared up on it's own by some miracle

just go to the doctor rather then asking the RS doctors to guess what might be wrong with you. It takes so line to book appointment's with specialists that the sooner you do it the better off you will be since it some times takes over a year to see someone.
I think it's bothering you more not knowing then anything since I'm sure its something you always think about and seeing a doctor is the only way to get that comfort.

Yea, makes sense right ? not going to the doctor...
Just forget the odds that someone from RS has ever been picked up and thrown onto a fckin boulder
also, as for people not walking right after knee surgery.... really ?

If something is torn and surgery is needed you will be walking around in a couple days. It's such a common surgery that they are close to perfection you have nothing to worry about.

Good chance you have arthritis.
My lady friend suffers the same exact symptoms as you do.

just get a kirkland brand or superstore/safeway brand packet of Omega 3/6 pills. They have a lot of anti-inflammatory properties which would speed up your recovery, and overall are good for joints.. that's the most you can do until you see a Dr IMO.
After doing a scan of the knee they can actually see what's wrong rather than have a bunch of internet medics treat what's wrong with you without even seeing it lol
For the pain (in the meantime), nothing beats a little weed or a stiff drink. Nothing over the counter will help with pain significantly unless you can get a prescription for T3 or something similar.

See an rmt, they will be able to assess your injury and give you advice on what actions to take. From what you describe, with how you hurt yourself and the kind of pain youre feeling, i dont think its a ligament tear. But im no pro.

Never had dull pain though...only ever had a sharp pain.
I was out for 2 weeks, then had 2 weeks of rehab / exercises

I'm usually very anti doctor, but this seems serious. best to check it. keep off food/bevies that are inflammatory to keep the pain down.
