low on radiator fluid, proper way to refill?

basically my coolant is well below the min mark where i can't even see it anymore, what is the proper way to refill it? I have a 05accord v6 and it has been using original green fluid since I drove it off the lot. Honda tech told me I can buy any green coolant and top it off to the line from the white cap when you open the hood. Is there a specific way to do it since inside the cap is pressurized? thanks!!

The easiest way is when the car is cold open the radiator cap and add fluid to the radiator and to just top up the fluid in the resevoir. Drive yge car like you would normally. Check every so often to make sure you don't need to add more fluid. Be careful not to spill any fluid and if you do to spray it down with a lot of water. The antifreeze has a sweet taste to it and animals will lick it up but it will kill them.
I assume the fluid in the car is 6 years old or older and will need to be changed. You may want to get it checked out and see if you need it changed before winter.

Your fluid should be flushed and swapped with fresh stuff by now so learn to do that or take it to a shop to do it.

Wait a sec. Double check to see if your coolant reservoir cap is white. IIRC on my cars, the cap is yellow.

Probably very expensive. You're better off taking the car to Phil @ Rise Auto Salon and he's a Revscene sponsor anyway.

The white cap you mentioned sounds like the windshield washer fluid cap. Look at the radiator and follow the small tube that goes to the resevoir and the cap is on that bottle.
Flush and fill at the dealer won't be cheap but from the sounds of it you may be better off getting it done at a shop.

the overfill reservoir for your honda is white. it has a little dinky hose on top if the radiator overflows. the reservoir has a max/min line. if its below minimum fill it up to either max/between/ or min. reason is it depends on the temperature of the car-- thats why there's a max line.

your honda uses the long life coolant. it's blue, the green one is for older hondas. What i would do is wait for the car to cool and add coolant to the radiator (the cap with all the danger signs on it) until its at the top. run it for a bit with the cap off (they say until your rad fan kicks on three times but whatever we are just topping it off). then top up the overflow reservoir. thats what i'd do atleast.

washer fluid has a blue cap on it btw and it pops off really easy, no threads on it.

all i see are hondas so

Agreed, your car came with (type 2) blue coolant from the factory. If you look under the hood, there should be a sticker stating the coolant is good for 200,000 kms or 10 years. Although I personally ain't so sure it should wait that long. It wouldn't hurt to change it earlier than stated.

Open the cap **MAKE SURE CAR IS COLD OTHERWISE THIRD DEGREE BURNS ARE LIKELY** and top up with antifreeze.
