ATM Frauds

just a heads up to RS incase anyone dont know

a couple days ago i was skytraining to school and needed some cash to pay for something. there were no bank atms nearby so i used "MY DC BANK" or the orange ATM's placed in almost all the skytrain stations. Since they were mounted in almost all the canada line stations, i thought they were legit. Couple days after someone withdrew money from my account. prior to this i had never used any atms aside from my own bank's.

i got the money back from my bank but im still hella pissed.

dont use any atm machines that arent from the big 5 canada banks!

Yeah.. I avoid those "indie" machines all the time. They're good for those that want to launder money, though!

Unfortunately, I've used those ATM's at the casino and it was the scammers that took my money. :okay:

ive heard of scammers rigging big 5 bank atm's as well. but in the end if it was a legit fraud you'd always get your money back

yeh, long time ago was told those machines were used by motorcycle/drug gangs for money laundering.

stick to bank machines.

We own a bank machine that's in our gas station. We do not commit fraud with our machine. The problem with bank machines out in the open with no one there to watch them so people can tamper with them. That also goes for machines from the big 5. Direct cash is the biggest bank machine provider in Canada by far. If someone comets fraud with your bank card the bank will pay for it so don't worry.

the bank will pay, but the onus is on you to proove it's fraud. with chip and pin technology, the bank put the responsibility 100% on the owner. yay for new technology!

If the machine has been tampered with the bank will pay you back because you will not e the only person with a problem plus there will be physical evidence.

some gas attendants if they're punks they would take your card and secretly swipe it through one of their machines and it records the info before swiping the card thru the gas machine. just keep an eye out whenever other people have possession of your credit cards
