Sign that comes out of the sidewalk

so this sign comes out of the parking spot a little too much. I scratched my car into it and dented it, should it be the private property's fault for having a sign not placed within the sidewalk?

I was quoted about $250 to fixed.

WHO PUT THAT INANIMATE OBJECT IN MY WAY

I'm curious what the sign says and whether it's actually supposed to be oriented to point straight out (so flat when oriented to the sidewalk).

Hey, I hit a solid clearly visible object with my car (that I was in full control of). Must be the sign's fault.

Sue!

That's piss poor placement of the sign, but you can't drive into stationary objects and expect someone else to pay for the damage.
