Most economical way to Abbotsford.

I have a new job in Abbostford starting soon, just wondering if anybody else travelling out there can share their best strategies or route in getting there.

Of course, I have to outweigh the toll , gas, and time, so please give me some routes.

I will coming from Queensborough.

Alex Fraser in the morning going the other way must be pretty good. South Perimeter Road, once completed, might be a good idea.

There's 2 basic routes.

1. Port Mann/Highway 1

2. Highway 91/16th or 0 ave. 16th has more stop signs, 0 ave has speed bumps.

1 will take a few minutes less time IF there are no accidents, it's a straight flat highway, there's the Port Mann toll.

2 will take a few minutes longer IF there are no accidents, it burns slightly less gas, it's along relaxed 'country' roads.

There's accidents somewhat frequently around 232nd on highway 1, and they can add 10-15 minutes to the 1 route.

Fuel consumption is close, depending on your vehicle and driving style, either route might have a slight edge.

If time is your highest priority, 1 is probably superior.

If gas/toll savings is your highest priority, 2 is probably superior.

I prefer 2, but I also hate driving in rush hour traffic.

SPR will be a good route once compete.

^friend of mine who lives in White Rock gets to Abbotsford in no time flat, going along Zero Avenue. It seems far away for OP, but using 99 will get him there in decent time.

Where is the SPR completed up to, at this moment?

Over the Alex Fraser, exit onto #10. Go north on 176th until you hit the #1, and merge east to Abby. That will be the fastest way by far.

He wouldnt have to go all the way to 0. 16th is quick up to Abbotsford unless you get stuck behind dump trucks going 50 the whole way..

what time is your commute? I take a similar commute from abby to east rmd so my commute is about 45 mins-1 hr via alex fraser and hwy 10. Other routes fare similar times. This is with somewhat spirited driving

edit. I work afternoons so i miss the rush hours

Hwy 10 is a bitch, but if you go north on 176, like falcon suggested, you will bypass Langley and possibly Aldergrove, if you don't take 232nd. <---did that make grammatical sense?

Anyway, listen to AM 730 (all traffic station). Just try to ignore the stupid comments by the announcers and that annoying jingle of theirs....... actually, I've gotten used to it. I switch to Nat and Drew in the Morning when 730 gets really bad. It's a toss up between Bonnie Brooks and "We're Closer Than Ya Think!"

Leave a tad earlier and the drive would be much smoother on any route. Get to Abby early and chill out at the nearest Timmy Ho's. I get to work early and just shoot the bull with friends. Way more relaxing.

I used to get to work minutes before starting and I would be so stressed out - road rage, etc.

Now I'm mellow yellow.

It should take 45 min - 1 hour.

Like MG1 said, leave yourself a comfortable amount of time to arrive and have a relaxed drive.

Fraser Highway is a very long road, what section are you referring to?

Past Downtown Langley, it's busy, but the pace usually stays at or a bit above the 80km/h limit, and you won't need to wait through multiple lights to get through an intersection.
