Simultaneously it is the same reason why we're not discussing Edward Kwok and how hard he is studying for his 3rd year mechanical engineering exams, and how he is monogamous to his chubby gf, and how good of gas mileage his Prius gets. It's simply not exciting.
dude get it right, it's all about accounting now.

you get to wear a suit, and crunch numbers for big firms that work you like slaves.

i think it's interesting but a pretty pointless argument

like, why do you care if there are $30k ballers around? do they somehow influence your life at all or did you just want to point your finger and say 'hey you're dumb, look at me! i'm saving money and i'll end up richer than you when i'm 60!'

personally, i think it's great to live life as you want, up to a certain age before you start planning for your future. what that age is varies from person to person, but for most people it's probably around 25-30. then it's time to start saving up and thinking of all the grown up shit like mortgages and stuff.

then again it's your life, so live it how you want. as long as you're happy.

The $30k must be arbitrary.
That's only ~$15/hour.

Most of my friends that have no post-secondary education are working $20-$27/hour warehouse jobs which amounts to ~$40k-$54k.
Even with some random 1-year trade program at BCIT already brings you up to that salary.

It's very possible to spend like a moron until you're 28, and still have a down payment saved up by the time you're 30.

My guess is that those people get so hooked to that lifestyle, that they end up believing that they're rich. "I make $30k, and I have $30k worth of credit, so that means I make $60k!"

But hell, if they're happy spending every last dollar they make, then more power to them.

Coming from an Italian family, it's the patriarch who takes care of the underlings. We're the opposite of the Asian family. In fact, I feel that Indians (from India, not Squamish) are our true brother's from another mother.

That said, would "Godfather" have been as believable if Don Vito lived in Michael's basement?

I been there done that.
I use to live pay cheque by pay cheque with several credit cards almost max limit and I carry a huge student loan.
It wasn't so much spending in clubs and girls but on clothes, eat outs etc etc......

I can say that it was a very stressful life becasue literally I wait for every pay day and pay my bills. If I miss a bill I am dead.

This went on for a good 2 years till I can't do it anymore and bills start pilling up and collections on my ass. Spoke to my family and they bail me out a bit. It was not fun when speaking to my family aobut it. They help my clear most of my bills but I sitll have to pay them back.

Now I am almost debt free and I can say that if I can go back in time I will never do that again. Not only it is a very stressful life but it also fuck my credit and I am still on the hook for the debt till now.

Is ok to spend once awhile but spent whitn your means. Never ever spend future money (IE I get pay $2000 next week so I can spend $2000 now and pay it off when I get paid). That never works. Only spend what you have now unless is mortage.

I have friends who have personal debt. I empathize with them. What some people don't realize is that it eats away at your self-confidence and hinders your decisions.

On the other hand, one could easily argue that they should have been more ambitious and pursued better job opportunities. Or perhaps gotten laid more, but I digress...

Or go to Brazil, where you drive a Honda Civic and people think you're balling. Panties drop for Audi A4s...
