give them a call, they offer the best prices especially for the DWS! But they are located in North Van.

discounttiredirect on ebay is pretty dirt cheap. free shipping to point roberts, just had a look for that size, usd$248 for a set of 4 ze-512's. but then again you gotta pay 5/tire iirc for most shipping places in PR.

i haven't looked the duty prices, but it's roughly 12% ($60) last time i brought back $500 worth of stuff. sometimes when the total amount is relatively cheap, they don't bother charging you. i brought over a $220 set of springs across the border and the guy just says see ya!

It doesn't matter what they're declared at when youre bringing them back yourself over the border since you'd still have to state the actual cost you paid when driving back.

Unless, however, you mean getting them to make you a fake receipt then by all means risk it. Border guards aren't idiots. Last time I brought over my Ohlins the guy asked me about Teins on his car and we chatted for a bit. They won't hesitate to check online the real price and or if its serious go through your belongings (including your phone) to see if its legit.

I drive to Discount Tire in Bellingham. They supply and install the tires. Then drive home. i bought 4 Continental DWS's and saved about $200.
But i spent the savings at the Costco there.

Discount Tire in Bellingham can do Mount & Balance
They can also price match their website & others like Tirerack.
But DiscountTireDirect.com has the best price.

The two consistently cheapest in the US are:

1. discounttire.com and tirerack.com

As stated above, discount tire has it's own retail stores, and tire rack has many "preferred garages". I find discount tire is usually cheaper, but tire rack has better selection if you are looking for that hard to find tire. However, the price varies, so you should check both.

Sorat is very well priced for a local store. However, even for 14" tires, the $50 -$100 of savings you get is totally worth it. It's not even comparable for anything 17" and over.

I got a pretty good deal from 10/10 tires for my Falkens. They have dealers locally, I went thru Volco tires in Richmond. Nice guys to deal with.

I have delt with Volco tire before and they were great. The manager at the Coquitlam store hooked me up with my last set of tires. They didn't have what I wanted so he sold me a different set and did the install for free.
I didnt have an appointment either I just walked in.

I bought my tires from tire rack, and they were much much cheaper than anyone else. They also shipped them right away, unlike the local shops who had to ship them in which would take two weeks. I may have been a special case though(19" winters), but if you check out tire rack + shipping them to point roberts, it should give you a fairly good price

+1 discounttiredirect.com

Purchased two sets last year, both shipped to point roberts. from my experience I had great customer service and support. when a clerical error was made by fedex (wrong tracking label given), the rep made sure everything was resolved and they followed both by email and a phone call.

Just to make it clear for buying tires in the states:

1 - there is a 99% chance you will go in to pay. As soon as they hear tires, it's enough of a big ticket item to charge you.

2 - You will most likely not have to pay duty, unless the tires are made somewhere remote and foreign where there isn't a trade agreement; that's what a trade agreement is - to be able to trade goods without imposing duty. Anything made in North America is duty-free, under NAFTA.

3 - What you pay is tax. 12%, just like any other place. The tax is charged upon the entire sum of your purchase, not just the goods. The environmental fees, US taxes, mounting balancing fees (if you do them in the states.) They'll charge you 12% of what you paid.

4 - Don't ever underdeclare. If you buy $700 tires and come across the border, you will pay $84 in tax. Let's say you underdeclare and say they were only $500; now it's $60.00. The assrape you will get both verbally and in fines, as well as future blacklists and headaches are absolutely not worth the relatively small amount you save.
