I have been getting these knocking / popping noise all the times in my condo. The noise seems to originate from my masterbedroom ceiling, near the air vent and inside the wall
The noise sounded like some one dropping stuffs above my floor...but I am guessing that's not possible because when it happens, it would happen the whole damn nights... (i.e. from like 12am - 6am)
- It is not loud, but definitely very audible and annoying when I am trying to sleep.
- I actually just started noticing them around 6 months ago...since then it seems to have gotten more frequent and louder...(it used to happen maybe once a week....now I get them almost 7 days a week)
- The noise seem to happen when it is windy outside, but I am not entirely sure...
- Building has 24 floors and I live on the 23th..
I am writing to report this to the management office but I'd love to hear if anyone here knows what is causing these noises
sounds similar to water pipes. if they arent properly anchored with an accumulator then the pressure increase and decrease as people turn the water off and on will cause the pipes to bounce around a little and they will knock on the joices or studs

In my apartment when its windy the varying air pressure causes the flap on my bathroom exhaust fan to bang open and close, could be due to that.

in my experience (as a tenant) those are the pipes. The older your building the worse it will be as well. When i lived in my old place build in the early 80's i actualy wore ear plugs cause it was so bad. In my newer one built in the mid 90's it's not as bad, and quite rare to notice
Is your condo near a hospice? If so, you'd better sue UBC

I live in the basement of my house, and the pipes run right down 1 of the walls in my room. I can hear the same thing when someone flushes the toilet upstairs.

Instead of writing a letter to the management office, I'd pull up the carpet first....If you see something like this, I'd recommend packing your shit and GTFO!!

-late night booty call?
either way, it's the pipes. Whether water pipe's or a skin pipe.
thanks!!! this is really helpful (screw u guys who post ghost and scary pic )
hopefully the management knows what's going on and it will be an easy fix...
btw...building was complete only in 2008...and the sound is actually quite a bit more "solid"... i had to amplify the sound and de-noise it to make the recording more audible, which makes everything sound hollow
I actually recall reading some management notice 1-2 years ago about water pipe hammering or something (and that it would be fix in a few week)...but at that time I never heard any noise at all...
I guess the noise moved up to my floor
