Shaw cable down in burnaby area

Can anyone confirm Shaw cable is down in burnaby area? Called in they said there was a fire nearby all the wires are messed up. :nicethread:

I think there was a fire near Charlie's chocolate factory, I saw 3 or 4 firetrucks there last night and this afternoon.

There was a fire on Lynnwood and Smith early this morning. I'm a block away to the east and mine is fine.

Up in north burnaby here near SFU. A-okay! :thumbs:

here by metro town ok

Near BCIT and no issue here.

I blame that dumb chocolate river...........

OK here in the Sperling North Burnaby area.

I live about 6 blocks south of the chocolate factory, watching the game right now

It looks like the fire started in the basement of the building on Smith Avenue near Canada Way.

Assistant Fire Chief Ken Moore says flames were shooting out all sides by the time crews got there.

“We did a rescue on all the floors, tried to get in as many suites as possible. At this point there were some people who were brought down ladders and some animals.”

Moore says there were 138 units in the complex.

People have lost everything and will also need to look for a new home.

One person died in a fire four years ago in the same building.
