i may not be able to do as much as mr.happysilp...but every monday night at midnight i have an auto transaction from my chequins account to a seperate savings account.
its not much...doesnt kill my bank account...but every year its saved up 5200$ that i didnt even realize i had.
my reason for saving money is my brother though...after seeing how easily he went into debt, i dont ever want to be put in a situation where im broke or simply have to say "i cant go to the bar with you guys tonight, im broke till next payday".

Half of it goes to my rents, they don't need it but I feel like it's the right thing to do, my mom says she just saves it for me, and I save about a quarter of the other half and waste the rest on things for myself and family

If you don't see the money then you can't spent right? That was my point. It might be tough the first few months but afterward it is really easy and your lifestyle will adjust. It might not seem much when you first started but we all have to start somewhere.
