Renting question: when does the month "end"?

Friend was asking me about this, maybe someone can clarify:

Buddy gave his notice at the start of Feb. that he was moving out end of the month (I'm assuming there's not a fixed-term lease in place). Landlady told him he had to be out and the place clean by 1pm on the 28th. Dude finds this unreasonable and can't even start moving into a new place until the afternoon of the 27th.

His thinking: February doesn't end at 1pm on the 28th, and he should have until midnight.

Thoughts??

" 14.6 The tenant must vacate the residential property by 1 p.m. on the day the tenancy ends, unless the landlord and tenant otherwise agree."

your friend better work fast or convince the landlord to give more time

oh i think your friend should consider himself lucky that the landlord didn't make him pay rent until end of March. If he wanted to leave Feb 28, he's supposed to say so before Feb 1.

A lot of people forget this. usually we'll go first to first unless the person is messy and we need the time in their unit or a dick and we wtick to the rules to be a dick one last time.

always end at 12pm or 1pm unless agreed otherwise by the landlord. Tell your friend to ask the landlord nicely before going all up in arms.

Had a guy get all mad when I told him I was charging him rent as he cleared the last of his shit out on March 2.

His parting words were, "you're a real douchebag, you know that?"

Mine were, "maybe you'll clear the fuck out of your apartment on time next time"

And off to arbitration we go.

He didn't even ask!
