Got beat with a belt. I remember my dad throwing a full set of keys at my sister's face. For people who don't know what's it like. It's fucking shit. I got belted for not taking my scheduled nap.
My parents were never extreme as that, but the video definitely resonated personally with myself.

i am surprised that no one said the plastic washing board yet...
i rmbr my mom will have one just for punishment only, she would use another one for actual washing. The one for punishment always had the deepest sharpest edges... fuck...
i had to go on my knees on that shit while i got the beating... the wooden ones are okay cuz they get worn down...but the plastic one are sharp as fuck....
it will literally dig into your skin if you stay there long enough,,,
and yes I moved out and living with my fiancee at the moment, best decision I made all my life~~ =P

anybody get the coat hanger? haha i had the belt and i swear a 2 feet long chopstick used only for hitting.
I also had the long chopstick, occasionally substituted with a long wooden spoon when my mom was feeling nice.
I asked my parents years later and they told me that they only kept to our hands and butts because they were the only areas they can smack and not have us physically injured in the long-run.

i got hit with:
Hot wheel tracks
bamboo sticks
But most of my punishment was stand in a corner and pull your ears
or horse stance
the WORST part that tormented me the most was:
Listening to her nag for hours and hours and hours while I'm standing in a corner pulling my ears

7seven: I really can't stand all these idiots who hit the gym now just because they watched 300 and want to be like a spartan. Case in point, this skinny guy comes into the gym the other day, must have only weighed ~ 140lbs, loads on 2 plates on the bench rack, mutters to himself, for sparta, unracks the barbell and proceeds to drop it directly on his chest.
I remember when I did something wrong (something small)..my parents would send me to my room, kneel at the corner and make me hold my ears for a good 30-60mins. Eventually, I said fuck you (not literally) and took naps
I'm lucky I never got beat severely or anything. Just long lectures and maybe a smack or two
Man, I'm lucky my parents never beat me or scold me because of grades as long as they are B's or above. I'm just comparing my beat downs with other kids and I always thought I had it pretty bad, but now it just looks like I was on par with everyone else. ie. Belt, sandles, chopsticks, feather duster, shoe, whatever my parents can grab within sight.
Funny thing is middle eastern, brown, latino, and eastern european people all got beat when they were kids too (well the immigrants anyways).
Question is, will you beat your kids when the time comes? or will you use other forms of punishment?
Filipino household, near regular beatdowns until my father got thrown out when I was 8. Wooden spoons, having toys smashed, and more importantly, these:
I'm not Chinese but I'm of Asian descent. My parents hit me a few times, nothing too severe, but growing up, I always got an earful of nagging.
Hearing my mom's rant about how a family friend's kid or one of my cousins or whoever is doing this and that and how I'm not doing anything was INFURIATING. At a certain point, I started despising people when they did nothing to me. I'm over that now but when I think back, I would have rather taken a smack than an hr of a circular rant that picked apart every little thing about me in the most illogical way. I swear my mom had to practice it; there's no way you could talk for so long and not stop. Well that's how I saw it.
Now I'm really conscious of chicks who nag - if you nag in the slightest, no thank you.
All you ppl got beat for doing something wrong or disobeying... Not like in the video where the guy got hit and verbally cut down for not getting 100% on a test that he tried and studied for. Doesn't seem like he deserves that much abuse. The mom didn't even do jack to help him in his studies other than nag and whip. I know its the asian culture but do we really all unconsciously accept it? Posted via RS Mobile
Mom would use long wooden spoons, yank on my ear so hard I could hear a tearing sound.
Dad would use a belt, or his favorite, a t.v. cable, tore my flesh up till it was bloody. He also made me do the splits all night when he would catch me still awake when I couldn't sleep at night. (I could not do the splits, so it hurt like hell). Looking back, I thought I was a pretty well behaved kid, never got into any trouble, it was only minor things like arguing with my sister or making a mistake on my multiplication tables when I had to recite them out loud to him. I certainly didn't think I deserved such harsh punishments. I was a shy, introverted kid. I think most of the time he was just stressed, so he took it out on me. Didn't need to worry about bullies at school when I got bullied at home.
On top of that, the constant comparing with their friend's kids, how they're so great and I'm not, this and that, blah blah blah.
I would never raise my kids with violence, I prefer a more civilized method. I still love my parents, but I can't say it didn't put distance between us, like they were strangers, not family that would love and care for me. I can't blame them, its a behavior that's passed on from generation to generation, tough love they say, but I can tell you one thing, it will stop with my generation, because I would never lay a hand on my child, except a light pat on the bum when they're young. I choose to have a deeper, more meaningful connection so I can get through to them. Mind fuck them. lol.

Probably the most creative form of punishment I received was having to kneel down on my dad's beer bottle caps. That fucking hurt. All for leaving my hw at home.
:/ this is pretty sad, but this video reminds me of my childhood all over again I used to do so well in school but then when it slipped I got kicked and hit, even kicked out of my home.
Grades never went back up and my parents gave up, but now I regret not trying harder cause it seems like it was only thinking about the moment.
Even though I felt the blow of various feather dusters, fists, and rods, just reading everyone's posts makes me think a lot of you came from abusive homes.
