March 30, first track day of 2013: The Ridge Motorsports Park, Leaving 29th Evening

As you know track season is about to start The first track day is coming up next week on March 30th (Saturday) and was wondering if anyone was interested headed down with me? Pending weather of course

We would be leaving on the 29th. Friday evening around 7-8 ish?
Staying overnight at the Little Creek Casino Resort

-Casino Resort is 10 minutes away from the track
-it'll be like $60 ish dollars a night (discounted for ppl attending track days)
-track day is $189 (includes morning coffee, muffins/fruits/candy & lunch) for lunch they fire up the grill and make burgers, they bring enough for people to have seconds.
-They also have lots of bottled water they keep in a cooler always stocked to the top

The entourage I normally head down with is having some difficulty lining up their schedule, so I want to see if anyone wants to join me on the first track season of the year.

They have great food and uber cheap beer at the lounge that's open till the early morning, its rad.

If anyone is interested, we could work out details.

There might possibly be! I carry my bike down in the bed of my truck but I have a trailer hitch, so the boys rent a U-haul and just split the costs.

We got another friend that comes with us that has room for himself and 1 more in the bed of his truck too.

I was wondering what kind of maintenance prep is required at The Ridge?

I'm planning to do my first track day and am looking up everything about bike prep. So many different requirements. In Mission, seems like you can just tape the bike up and go.

Your input and experience is much appreciated.

Just have to tape up your head/tail lights/signals/mirrors. If you can easily remove your mirrors I would suggest you do that as well. It would be two less things to tape up and/or break.

I also remove the license plate but it's not required.

Make sure you have good tread on your tires, and also find out what the recommended track pressures are for your make & model of tires. Depending on what street tire you are on, the PSI should run somewhere in the low 30's front and rear. Normally there are track side tire vendors that can give you their suggestion. You can try to do some prior research as tire pressure recommendations are normally posted/shared on forums.

If you want to be extra-courteous, you can drain your radiator fluid and run water wetter but again that is not required. That is just in case you lay her down and accidentally get rad fluid on the track, being proactive if you will.

all you really need is just to tape up your lights and have the bike in good working condition.
