| Brentwood is locked down at the moment.
A friend who works by the area says that police have all exits covered. Rush hour is going to get shittier unless this resolves quickly. Burnaby's Brentwood mall evacuated by police - British Columbia - CBC News Quote:

It's kind of sucky that police radios aren't scannable (all forces in Metro, as well as BC Ambulance, have their transmissions encrypted). I would have liked to hear what the cops are saying.

I wonder if the RCMP have a remote controlled drone to check out the suspicious package? -would be handy for the bomb squad to send in a drone to help them out.

Brentwood's shutdown for the day. Quote:
Burnaby's Brentwood Town Centre Mall was evacuated Tuesday afternoon after an anonymous threat was called in.
Cpl. David Reid with Burnaby RCMP said the caller did not specify what may have been left in the mall, but investigators were taking the threat seriously and officers and dog teams were scouring the mall and surrounding area.
"It's standard in any circumstance where we receive a call of this nature, we go through and do a complete search always," said Reid.
"In concert with the Brentwood security and the Brentwood office facilities, they determined that the mall should be shut down in this particular instance," Reid added.
Reid could not comment on when the mall might reopen.

essentially yes it is just a random caller. Responders would have to respond to it regardless. i think what would happen after would be an investigation as to who called it in. in this day of age its not that tough to track down users.
