rear licence plate insurance sticker

Hi,

I was just wondering what the law is on having the expiration date on the rear plate's sticker covered, as my licence plate frame covers all of it...

If it has to be legally displayed ill get a different plate frame. any guidance on the matter is greatly appreciated.

The val tag is consiered part of the plate and must be unobstructed...ie, not covered by part of the plate holder frame. I used to run every plate number I saw with an obstructed tag and often found out why it was covered.

it's illegal but i think it'll pretty much come down to the cop (like many other things). if he runs your plate and finds nothing fishy, he'll likely (i'm no cop so take this with a grain of salt) let you off. i had mine covering the insurance decal for a while. when i switched plates i just put the frame on first and found a different spot to stick it. no problems in years

I just move mine further up, closer to the BC flag. My STI plate frame would have covered it otherwise.

Just because he didn't have any issues, doesn't mean it isn't illegal. Not everyone gets caught for EVERY traffic infraction committed, obviously

OK, but those Thrush Muffler 'woodpecker smoking the cigar" decals added at least 10 hp., while destroying your hearing at the same time.

I got pulled over for this awhile back. Cop said as long as I place the decal above the frame it's okay, so that's what I do now.
