Professionally: Must tolerate. Didn't have to before but China is now filthy rich. Hong Kong isn't as rich/useful/important as it was. China is where the money/power is. Must put on a straight face and endure. Convince the mainlanders that we are the same. Lets do business because we are all Chinese, like brothers. We can give you guys better deals than the other races so do business with us.

My Take on your take
Professionally - We tolerate them more than anything, they treat HK like a playground. I'm talking mostly about the service/retail industry. Their demeanor and attitude rubs everyone the wrong way
Personally - Hongers are quite hyprocritical in a sense. I use my own immigrant experience as an example. When you eff'd up socially i.e. you open the door and I walk thru the opposite way before you do, you get told off by Candians, nicely or harshly. The bottom line is they care enough about their culture to point out mistakes (and how to address them)
In HK this doesn't happen, they take the Chinese approach (aka bing Ultra Passive Aggressive). If a mainlander acts a fool, Hongers generally do anything....until it happens to a guy that's about to explode anyway. That's where all the crazy youtube stuff comes from, and do you ever see someone else intervene? No.
The bad manners have rubbed off on hongers too, instead of addressing the issue, many of them just said fuck it and have stooped to their level. They can't blame mainlanders entirely for this.
edit: The weird thing is, IF you went to a homogenous city in China, you
don't have people shitting on the street or just doing socially retarded things. I've been to several cities like Tianjin and Guangzhou where people are very nice. It's places like Shenzhen that are insane.
