plastic lens polish

i am looking for recommendations for a polish good for buffing out light scratches in the clear plastic lens cover on an instrument gauge panel? i can't take the lens out of the dash without dismantling half the dashboard so it has to be polished out by hand...

You're going to have a hell of a time buffing it out in it's enclosure, I just use Auto Glym polishing and/or buffing compound. It's meant for paint, but it works just as well on plastics of any kind, I use it to restore any faded or scratched plastics.

These are the tail light lenses for a 1965 Thunderbird that I semi-restored as an example.

Yes, and on a side note, the polishing compound smells like a mix of flowers and perfume.
