Meet the Azzam: The World's Largest Superyacht. $605 million US The world's largest superyacht, called Azzam, is 590 feet long. What's the cost to build this yacht? A staggering $605 million US!!! No RS group buy for this big toy. :lawl: Meet the Azzam, the world's largest superyacht - CNN.com Based on the article, the annual operating costs for this yacht are about $60 million. From the article: At 590- feet long, the Azzam is 57-feet longer than Abramovich's mighty Eclipse -- previously the largest yacht on the waves. The hulking superyacht is significantly longer than a football field, larger than the US Navy's Arleigh Burke-class destroyer and more capacious than many popular cruise ships. The identity of the huge boat's owner remains a mystery, but some speculate that it belongs to a powerful Middle Eastern billionaire. The project was brought to fruition by Mubarak Saad al Ahbabi, who assembled a triumvirate of yacht-building super stars: the Azzam's engineering was done by premier German shipbuilding company Lürssen, the exterior design was by Nauta Yachts and the interior was composed by Christophe Leoni. http://mby.media.ipcdigital.co.uk/90...zzam-600px.jpg http://i44.tinypic.com/1iisg2.jpg |

At what size do these things stop being classified as yachts and become cruise ships? |
Um. Yachts are personal. Cruise ships are public. 60 schmill per year to operate. :heckno: |
needs a pagani zonda and a few other exotics on that massive deck, just cuz |
free lifejacket to first revscener who gets in their rubber dinghy and puts SH in front of the name |
cant find any inside pics must of spent it all building it and cant afford to furnish it |
Yeah the exterior shots look kinda meh... I like the ones with the dark-coloured hulls! Such as this: http://www.boatinternational.com/bi-...t-register.jpg |

Psh, only one helipad? It's quite good looking but I was hoping for something more modern and special. |
I hope the $60M/yr includes top notch security can you imagine having this thing out in international waters? Pirates be all over it. I'd install turrets just as a pirate deterrent :lawl: edit: the article mentions the other yacht similar has a missile defense system |

here's a thought -->how about using one's wealth for the betterment of mankind instead of ostentatious purchases that serve no purpose but to spew more pollution into the atmosphere and oceans..$605 million could do wonders in sub-saharan africa providing basic needs like potable drinking water..or how about a cause closer to home like aid given to help in the care of the 1 million+ refugees from the syrian conflict residing in Lebanese territories..the possibilities are endless!! or better yet, in sticking with the theme of boats, why not build a hospital ship of sorts. Maybe something along the lines of a Mercy Ship..a ship that makes port of calls in impoverished countries and supplies medical care to those who would otherwise not have access to. p.s: really nice ship, but utterly useless! |
