Road Test Fail

So I just recently failed my road test because of 1 dangerous action, everything else was correct. I was waiting at a red light for a right turn, came to a complete stop, and the car which had a green light in front of it was also taking a right turn so, I do all the procedures and continue my right turn but it was just my luck to have the guy taking a right to change his mind and come right through the intersection in a hurry almost hitting me.

Now, I'm wondering how can I get the earliest date possible for another road test? Should I keep checking online? What time is best to check online? Go to Victoria? Kamloops? I'd like to enjoy the freedom of having a car for the remainder of the summer. Any suggestions would help!

I think you can show up early at the icbc test centers and wait for someone to cancel. Best thing to do is just call them and ask yourself.

Would that be my best bet? And do you know which centers are very lenient?

You have to wait a week from the day you fail your test before you can go again

I think it's your best bet if you wanna get your license before summer ends. Not too sure what you mean by lenient but they all should be able to accommodate you if there is someone that cancels, I don't see why they shouldn't. As long as you're there early since they do a first come first serve basis. I would call them and ask about it though.

if you were taking a right turn and opposing cars going Straight or Right has nothing to do with you... But if opposing are going left then you must yield for their green arrow and your red. It's also optional to turn right on a red but must yield to all opposing traffic turning left in the intersection and pedestrians as they have right of way.

Sorry just keep refreshing online, Summer is always hella busy. IIWU brush up on those "right of way" first to strengthen your confidence. GL

Thanks for the insight! And I got one booked august 21st in Abby! There's an earlier date, the 13th in kelowna but, I don't know if it's worth the drive. And the drive home's going to be awkward if I fail..

You're better off doing it in the summer. Assuming you are taking your N or class 5 later when you need to register then its going to be in the summer season. If you passed it in the winter and its time to take the test then it could go both ways when it snows or rain. Or you have to wait the season out. Just a heads up and friendly tip

All my family and friends have the easiest time of their lives taking their tests at point grey, myself included.

I have a couple friends who failed in Richmond, but hardly any one failed in point grey. Too many crazy people in Richmond, people around Point Grey are usually a lot more calm.

Took my class 5 there, was following a large truck who turned right on the right lane. I was going to do the same, but the guy who tested me went "ahem ahem ahem" as I approached the line... I looked up and saw a sign that says "NO RIGHT TURN ON RED LIGHT".

Same thing happened to me. I took the test in Point Grey and he took me through roads I have never been to before, so it was pretty difficult, especially the varying speed limit changes through 16th Ave/UBC.

I hope whatever center you go to, they nail you for even the smallest mistake.

No one is perfect at driving, but asking "which center is very lenient" is like cheating on an exam and saying you got an A+ but when it comes time to apply , you dont know jack..

I would rather go to whatever center and get 85 on my test than go to the easiest, get 100 and get into an accident cuz the examiner overlooked something small..

all the best to you.

^ this

its called being put on stand by, just go in when they open up and let them know that you would like to be put on standby for the class 5 or 7 (whichever test you are planning on taking). And if anybody pulls a no-show or cancels last minute you should be the first person that they will offer a test session to.

Downside is that you are not guaranteed a time to get tested on that day, it will all depend on your luck. You could wait as little as half an hour for an opening, or be there for a whole day and still not get an opening.

If you're as desperate as you sound, go to ICBC as soon as they open and request to be put on stand-by for no shows. There is no guarantee, but usually at least one person will no-show, and you'll get their spot.

You can book your next test right now actually. 1 week after your fail
Their online booking system refreshes at 6am, as I was told. This means if someone cancels last minute, it won't show up online until the next morning. I agree with tiger_handheld tho
