Mice on the last day: Should I report?

So some friends decided to go pick a buffet they overheard Grand Buffet from somewhere so they picked it. As a joke we used to call it Grand Barffet. Unknowingly it was also their last day. Grand Closing?
as expected it was pretty bad. Nearing the end of service we saw mice or rats running around in plain sight and jumping into cracks and under doors.
Also some of the food was contaminated with gasoline. I spit it out ASAP and it wreaked of 87 octane.

My question is do I report it? is it worth reporting?
I wasn't sick but the gashrooms did make me nauseous...

Shit that is just nasty. Some places you just "know" aren't clean. But to see/experience it live is another story...

Serious response: does 87 octane have a significantly different taste from 89 or 91?

I personally don't think it is that gross to see mice the odd time, but on a regular basis, is disturbing. In an area that has a lot of restaurants etc, you can't eliminate them all, and it only takes 2 to exponentially multiply. And that is not a rat. Rats, I understand are gross mainly because of their size. Realistically, rodents aren't much different than birds... I wonder why people are more grossed out from rodents than birds...

As for gasoline, wtf? I am finding it hard to believe they actually put something like that in their food, or it's just rancid food.

People are more grossed out from rodents than birds because of how society has put an image on them. Birds (crows and pigeons specifically) and mice/rats are considered pests but because you associate rats with sewage and garbage and what not from movies, rats are more gross.

If you look at it from a cross-contamination point of view, rats are also more likely to contaminate food just because of obvious reasons. They are also known to carry more diseases. And the bubonic plague was also carried by rats. So when you put it all together, rats are way more gross.

REPORT IT. Call it in and tell them what you saw, and that you have video evidence. As a Public Health Inspector, they are obligated to call you back in 24-48 hours at most. Most of the time, they will call you back after they go do an inspection after your complaint. Even though the restaurant is closing down, they will have the owner on file. So if they were to ever open up another restaurant, the paper trails may tell health inspectors that the owner, may be a problematic operator.

The joys and shit you see/hear/learn when you go through the Health Inspection program in BCIT.
