definitely the gastown steam clock. did you know that when it comes to that absolete technology that nobody uses, it's the second biggest in the world? the biggest one is way bigger and cooler but because nobody else uses steam clocks, we're a close second. i would just spend all my time at the steam clock. steam clock is life.

Paddleboarding & wakeboard in Deep Cove, hike the Chief, rollerblade or run the Seawall, Helijet tour of the city, take a boat out for the day in English Bay

Eats at Black & Blue, Wildebeest, Miku, Octopus Garden, Fable, Ciopinnos, Blue Water, Pajos, Vijs, Cin Cin, Tojos, Dimsum at Kirin

my friends friend came from poland and we showed her around quite a bit in 2 weeks.

we had her eat a lot of asian food since you cant really get that there, she loved all of it.

anyway for non food related, i think you have to do some outdoor stuff.
-kayaking, paddle boarding, hiking, whistler, biking, trails.. we did all that and a lot more.

stewie 08-26-2013 11:15 PM

-gastown steam clock

-walk the sea wall + all the nature paths in Stanley park (avoid "lees trail", its well known for gay people to have sex on that trail, and for gays to live out "raping" fantasy's while jogging on the trail...I used to work in the park...we weren't allowed to go on the trail alone)

-swim in the 2nd beach outdoor pool (I believe it was one of canadas last saltwater pools. once a week on low tide the water would be drained out, and when then tide came back in it would fill the pool and they'd shut the gates and keep the water there for 7 days....ended in 1996, but still cool to swim there)

-go to wreck beach(if you go, at least attempt to be in a swim suit...I don't know how many times this summer I heard people yell at Asian tourists who would trek down the stairs, stand there in pants and jackets with a camera and start taking photos...even I yelled at an Asian guy who was taking a photo of his wife while me and my gf were naked behind her)

-check out Granville island

-drive up to grouse and take the lift up for dinner with an amazing view

-if your to cheap to drive up to grouse, grab some take out and drive to the top of hythe street in Burnaby, theres an underground water reservoir there which gives a perfect view of the burrard inlet and downtown/northvan and the mountains...amazing just when the sun just starts to go down...can be quite romantic...cept if theres highschool kids drinking there lol

-tour around metrotown for the hell of it

-if your feeling like driving out a bit from Vancouver, go to alouette lake in maple ridge and rent a kayak/canoe and boat around in a massive lake with nice scenery

-^while out there, go to Canadian tire and get a day license to fish

-the zoo

-aquarium

-probably check out a few steak houses like black+blue, or certain Italian restaurants downtown

-go karting

-cultus lake water park

-recently had appys and drinks at a place called "tap and barrel" in the Olympic village area...has a great view if you go upstairs on the patio! great lil spot for a date night

-pne/playland

-check out the horse track

-I always check the casinos when im in new places

-walk all throughout downtown/gas town/yaletown

-dvc gun range...why not lol

-try to catch ANY concert going on at the commodore

-lions/canucks/Canadian game

-walk around historic china town

...dunno? :s id be more interested in doing activities that i couldn't do at home as to places to eat(unless its a popular restaurant...if not...anyplace that serves food is fine by me)

if you want, just go to Canadian tire, they have some pretty cheap fishing rods that already come with a rod+reel, all you have to do it put on a hook and bait and bobber. can get everything for under 100$ and its useable year round. I think the license is 30-40$ 50-60 for the rod + tackle and worms are free from your yard.

Fuck I remember when I happened upon that area while on a bike ride... Every so often you'd see a guy just hanging out 'waiting'. The further in you went, the more there were. I'm not homophobic and I wasn't even them, but that was actually a bit... Unsettling.... Now I hear about the rape thing (if its true) and I'm glad I got the fuck out of there!

This is the first time I've seen this mentioned since then

Rape is rape, it is not homophobic to be scared of male rape, just like how you can be scared of rape from a female.

That being said, interesting tidbit I did not know about Stanley Park (grew up here my whole life) confirmed on google, a lot of info about it.

Hondaracer 08-27-2013 06:36 AM

Well at the time I had no idea about the raping.. It just all seemed really creepy to me :lawl:

Also, TIL about the term "cruising"

Also they do an annual condom cleanup on the trail... I appreciate that but shouldn't it be a bit more often? :heckno:
