References for Job Applications/Resumes

Hi

I was wondering how I should format my references if they no longer work for the company when I worked for him/her. Do I use the new company they work for or the old one?

Example

John Smith
ABC Company (company I used to work for but he no longer works there either)
Manager
email
phone

or

John Smith
XYZ Company (new company he works for but I have no relations with the comapny)
Manager
email
phone

Thanks

I would put in the company that they used to work at, put in a note they moved to a new job and a method to contact them.

**Example**
John Smith
ABC Company (company I used to work for but he no longer works there either)
Manager
email
phone
Note: This person has moved to XYZ Company.
