LOL @ Rocker boards being for beginners and camber for advanced.

Only time I rock a full camber board nowadays is when literally the only thing I want to do is go to the blackpark and huck myself 70 feet.

Other than that I am riding my SB or my Bataleon, and I am buttering the entire mountain.

Looking into grabbing this board.. still trying to figure out what boots and bindings to get. This will my second season riding. I bought a second hand board/bindings/boots for dirt cheap last year to practice on so I'm looking to upgrade. Got a season pass to cypress so I'm stoked!

Rossignol Angus Amptek Snowboard 2013 | evo outlet

Any opinions? Im going to be hitting the S/M terrain parks. Seems like a good deal at $190.

Get it dude! Rossignol makes very good boards! I picked up their Krypto last season when EVO was having a sale, and haven't regretted it one bit. As a matter of fact, I just picked up their Jibsaw this season. Can't wait to bring it up the slopes to try that baby out. Word of caution though, the Angus does look like it's on the stiffer side of the scale, so if you want something that's a little more softer and playful, then it might not be for you.

I managed to pick up the 2014 Angus today for $200 at Sportchek. Managed to talk the manager into giving me the Angus for half price, seeing as how the Jibsaw was going for $199+ tax . Now to find a nice set of bindings! I'm thinking either the Union Atlas or Endeavor S2 right now

Get the Unions. EVO has the 2013 Atlas's for $143.90 and the Force's for $119.90. Snag them asap!!!

I have outgrown my skis. Currently debating whether to use the skis until end of season or buy new skis right away.

Where do you guys get deals on equipment, have been going to Sportcheck and Comor for all my gear.

^ For me personally, I enjoy hunting for deals on CL. Some people think its a pain or a waste, but I'll know what I want spec wise, relentlessly search until the right ad pops up and close on it quickly. Golf stuff.. rims (Work summers + Enkei winter set ups on 17" both $1100 total), whatever. I find there are a lot of people out there who need the latest everything that they'll sell last years gear for cheap...

Might not work for everyone (and honestly, I dont spend a lot of time, all about searching keywords) but I save a lot of $ by being patient.

Check out DogFunk and The-House. You don't have to pay the Washington tax on those two sites. EVO is in Washington so you gotta pay that 8.5% when shipping to Pt Roberts/Blaine.

When do people generally start snowboarding season?

This will be my 2nd season, and I started around late December last year. But I can't wait to start ASAP.

Is there decent amount of snow yet, or better to wait?

Very waterproof outerwear
(pants, jacket, gloves)
Helmet
Goggles
layers of clothing (long underwear, moisture wicking first layer shirt, sweater)
facewarmer if its cold
contact lenses if you wear them
impact shorts/snowboard (NOT ROLLERBLADE) wrist guards if you are a safety kind of guy.
Be warm and comfortable and prepared to spend the day on your ass. Its tough the first day, but the learning curve is very steep and you can have fun cruising the mountain within a couple days. Don't get discouraged and have fun!

My first day boarding this season was on Sunday at whistler. Conditions are OK for early season. The bottom third of blackcomb is bare. You can ride from the top of the whistler gondola all the way to the base. From whistler midstation to the base, the snow is pretty thin but enough to ride without damaging your board.

I'm pretty sure you can rent a helmet as well.
Basically waterproof yourself. Or else you'll be soaked and cold very fast.

If you're just trying snowboarding out, I would recommend borrowing a buddy's snowpants/jacket if you can.

Make sure you wear a helmet. Whether you're a pro or a noob.
Way too risky without one imo. Saved me from a probable concussion the first time I went (which was last season).
Foruntately, I never really needed it again so far, but I'll never get on a board without one.

I'm waiting til it hits about 100 cm for the base, I don't want to scratch up my board... Getting so antsy though

THIS x10000000
I unfortunately thought helmets for only for people riding parks and wound up with a concussion. My buddies back in Kamloops thought only needed when riding trees or heading into the park and one day when I wasn't up with them, one of their friends caught an edge wrong and went down. They said the ski patrol had to shoot her with a shot of adrenaline and she almost died.

Look at the actress a few years back that died from a head injury. Yes I know they look stupid, but I'd rather that and be able to ride the next 50 years, than to be dead

I ride the park as often as I ride the terrain outside the park and I can will attest to the fact that regardless of what you are doing you should wear a helmet.

I can without any exaggeration say that my helmet has literally SAVED MY LIFE.

Wearing a helmet snowboarding or should be like putting on your seatbelt.

Also for those that are going on a few seasons with their helmet do remember that a lot of helmets need to be replaced after a hard impact, or even repeated small impacts. So keep that in mind and if you think you need a new one, go out and buy it.

I don't think helmets look that bad depending on which one you get. Plus I find they keep my head and ears warmer than a toque lol.
