| Dual Monitor setup - overkill?
I got a spare 40" LCD that I was going to use with my system.
But ... How do you set it up so one is not so close ? I literally fried my
eyes and brain when I hooked it up and tested it.
So I have a 22" and this 40", what is best way to configure or is it even worth it? Posted via RS Mobile |

Move your desk back from the wall a couple feet. I had a tri-monitor setup at one point. Two 22" monitors on the desk with a 37" tv on the wall. The desk was about three feet from the wall and I used the TV as a preview monitor for video editing.
Otherwise get a wireless mouse and keyboard and push your chair back a couple feet if you don't want to move your desk.

ok... details...
the room is a boxy standard 12' x 12' spare in the house that I've converted to miscellaneous collectibles (toys lol) and the main desktop computer room. as you can see, there is shelving on 3 walls... I can definitely remove one shelf to mount on the wall perhaps behind me (the wall with the bland picture frames).
the desktop is equipped with a wireless keyboard/mouse. the door on the left goes to the rental suite and is secured lol. door on the right goes to my kiddie's playroom which also has a 47" LED mounted on the wall for when i'm in the dog house and yes the desk is small!
EDIT: the 40" LCD might be a perfect fit in the window area....

Yea.. I wouldnt put the TV that high.. lol gona get neck strain...
Mount that TV to the wall at the back.. move the small desk with the monitor closer to your chair and off to one side so its just out of the way of the TV.. BAM.. a nice setup!

Lol until I fixed my setup at work I was running one 21" monitor with a 42" tv right beside it. Ran like that for like 6 months...
Now that I fixed it, I realize that could not have been good for my eyes and productivity in general. Now I have one of those matrox adapters 3 24" monitors (I prefer monitors over tv's cause the pixel density is way better and its better setup for day-to-day computer stuff I do...

+1
have you tried running the TV as a monitor? If you're gonna do anything other than videos/games then I'd try browsing/word processing for an hour straight to see if it strains your eyes first before deciding to make space for it.
sometimes the texts are so hard to read and it really strains the eyes
