Provincial government to review B.C. highway speed limits

Just saw this from the Vancouver Sun:

Quote:

The B.C. government has announced it will review speed limits on longer stretches of highways.

Starting next month, the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure will seek public input on the issue. British Columbians can have their say at public forums to be held cities around the province, starting in November.

Host cities so far include Kamloops, Chilliwack, Nanaimo, Prince George, Dawson Creek, Kelowna and Cranbrook.

Officials have already begun an evaluation of provincial highways, with staff looking at speed, safety history and the volume of mixed traffic.

The review is expected to wrap up with recommendations by next spring.

It appear that the Province has too much time on their hands...

I work in the island reason why they want to slow it down is because people don't left lane hog on the highways most spots speed limits are 110km. Ample room to pass on the left if you want to pass.
