I think Hendricks is going to clobber Lawler this time around, sad to say... He wasn't healthy last time, and is going to be more prepared now.

I am still rooting for Lawler of course, but I'm not expecting it to happen.

As for the rest of the show:

Pettis over Melendez
Browne over Schaub
Duffee over Hamilton
Ferguson over Trujilo

Robbie wasnt quite good enough last time. Can he still continue getting better? Hendricks will certainly come in better than the last fight.

I hope Pettis smashes Gil

Uniforms announced starting July 1 2015. No other sponsorship logos allowed anywhere during fight week. Uniform pay based on UFC rankings.

wow that's a fucken joke with being required to wear uniforms... The UFC doesn't pay the fighters enough as is and now how much will the fighters make compared to their own sponsors they had before?

They havent said what the pay scale is going to look like yet. They are saying it will benefit the fighters but I find that hard to believe. Its funny how they keep saying things like "you dont see players in the NFL with personal sponsor logos on their jerseys, so why should they in the UFC. Well the NFL doesnt pay their players $5000 3 times a year or fire them if the president is on his period and doesnt like you, big difference.

Also if the pay is based on rankings, is that flat across all divisions?
Does that mean Kyoji Horiguchi (who?) now gets the same uniform pay that Overeem gets? Which one of those 2 is losing on the deal? Or Raquel Pennington (who?) makes the same as Frank Mir, a guy whos a future hall of famer and helped build the UFC

i remember mac danzig in an interview saying he comes out in white shorts b/c it was too hard/not worth it for him to try to find sponsors. then you get the guys in payment disputes with sponsors that don't pay afterwards. i can see it helping the little guy.

i wonder if they allow you to wear whatever you want as long as you slap on a reebok logo patch, ie guys can still be individuals and wear trademark styles. an example would be like if liddel were still fighting he'd wear his blue iceman shorts but just have a reebok patch on it.

If only someone brought up the issue of NFL having a players union and that the UFC should have a fighter's union. Dude would be tossed out of that building so fucking fast

Ya that has been mentioned that now fighters don't have to spend their time securing sponsorship. The flip side to that is in the new uniform deal, the fighters are responsible to promote their uniforms to consumers and get a kick back on those sales. So its kind of the same thing, maybe even harder.

some numbers being thrown around on the old internets:

Current sponsor numbers:

UFC champions, contenders and other fighters speak out on sponsorship

Between $150,000 and $75,000 per year: A top contender in the UFC, top 10 in his/her division and reasonably marketable.

Up to $100,000 per year: The very top fighters in organizations outside of the UFC, if they have good yearly sponsors.

$15,000-$10,000 per fight: Former UFC fighters with big names fighting outside of the UFC.

$15,000-$10,000 per fight: Mid-level UFC fighters.

Up to $5,000 per fight: UFC fighters on Facebook.

Luke Thomas ********@SBNLukeThomas 5m5 minutes ago

Gareth Davis reports UFC-Reebok deal = $70 mil. Let's do some math. IF that's true, it's worth $11.7 mill a year. Divided by 45 events...

----
Luke Thomas ********@SBNLukeThomas 4m4 minutes ago

....that's about $260k in sponsor money per event. If 12 fights on a card, that's $21,604 per fight or $10,802 per fighter on average.

----

Luke Thomas ********@SBNLukeThomas 1m1 minute ago

Again, this is just rough math. No idea how any of this is distributed, but it's worth thinking about: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/oth...ing-firms.html

$70 mill over 6 years = $11.6mil/year

....that's about $260k in sponsor money per event. If 12 fights on a card, that's $21,604 per fight or $10,802 per fighter on average.

but
its on a teir system factoring in the top 15 in the rankings. so no one really knows how its all going to fall together yet.

black british dude that drops bombs - isn't that doomsday howard???

some organizations allow soccer kicks in certain situations so it may not have been illegal. i don't know the rules of the soccer kick in those organizations though as i believe someone recently got DQ'd even though they were 'allowed' in that fight.

How to post gfycat:

Pust the unique identifier from the link:

Highlight that text, and press the gycat button:

Brandon Vera vs Igor Subora

Head kicks lead to more finishes that's for sure!

Headkicks should be allowed everywhere.

It's ridiculous to think that once a person falls to the ground that his head is off limits.

Cant agree more, 12-6 elbows should definitely be allowed too. It's pretty bs how you can blast someone in the head with your shin but not your elbow.

Disagree on soccer kicks and head stomps. Agree on elbows.

I don't agree on the 3 points of contact rule. I think head kicks should still be allowed there, and I think a guy laying on his back should be able to head kick a guy scrambling in his guard, etc. But I dont think head kicks should be allowed if a guy is laying on his back.

Maybe it should be 4 points of contact or on your back. That would prevent head kicks from guys who are rocked and covering up but defenseless, but still allow head kicks to guys who miss a take down, or are doing that stupid hand on the mat loophole.

Knees to the head of a downed opponent please. Tired of seeing fools bent over with one hand on the mat to prevent them from getting destroyed
