VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – You’re being reminded thieves want your personal information, and it comes amid concerns Canada Post cuts could make your mail more vulnerable.
RCMP in North Vancouver have discovered bags of stolen mail and identification.
Mounties continue to sift through everything and say hundreds of people’s mail, credit cards, passports, driver’s licenses, have been recovered.
Corporal Richard De Jong says it’s the result of a traffic stop a couple of weeks ago.
They discovered the stash inside a rental van. “The property that we can link it to right now is from actual robberies, break and enters, thefts from vehicles, thefts of vehicles , mailbox thefts.”
De Jong says as many as 500 people or more may be affected. “Certainly it covers the scope of identification that is stolen and then used for identity fraud, which is very significant, of course, in society today.”
A 27-year-old Surrey man has been charged.
RCMP think they have come across some kind of mobile operation that covered a number of Metro Vancouver cities.
RCMP say at least two men pushed their way into a home in the Strawberry Hill neighbourhood of Surrey, B.C., and held four children and two caregivers hostage for a short while around dinner time Wednesday night.
No one was seriously injured, but four young children were tied up during the home invasion.
He calls himself Freedom, and he tells underage girls he’s in the music business. He’s got a record for criminal harassment, and he’s been stalking females in at least one Surrey recreation centre. When he’s rejected, he becomes furious. Surrey RCMP know about Freedom’s recent actions, but say they don’t have grounds to charge him.

The man boarded the bus at 168th Street and Fraser Highway, and made a “very offensive” comment to the driver, according to transit police Cst. Kevin Goodmurphy.
Soon after, he began singing, yelling racist comments, and intimidating six other passengers on the bus.
When the driver made an announcement for passengers not to swear, the man directed his aggression towards the driver.
As the bus pulled into Surrey Central, the man approached the driver, punched him and took his sunglasses before running off the bus.
The driver followed him into the waiting area where the alleged attacker punched him again. The driver then headed back to his coach where the suspect returned only to punch him a third time.
So if that dude calls crimestoppers himself and pleads guilty to complete the conviction can he claim the $15,000?

On a serious note, I always told myself I would never live in Surrey, but, we have been here 5 years and we dont mind it at all...Just as much BS in other places like Burnaby and New West.
