Telling a 5 year old to not touch things/hug people/hold hands etc etc.....yeah, okay. *rolls eyes* Have they not dealt with the attention span of a developing child?

This seems like the complete opposite of my elementary school growing up. We had boxing in the curriculum for PE and every lunch and recess was essentially rugby regardless of what sport was actually being played.

It was great, even as one of the smaller, weaker students. Certainly made me a lot tougher and I had a ton of fun.

All these pussy rules started to come into effect after Columbine.

The problem is two part. Neither the kids.
First its the parents that expect the schools to raise their kids and when the kids get hurt insulted or bad grades its the schools fault, meaning the parents are not taking responsibility for the kids they spawned. Secondly its the schools reaction to that and their inherit lazy method of doing so. That lawsuit is a joke and should have never been allowed. What happened to the suck it up society that bred winners innovators and hard workers? Its disappearing fast. People are scared of each other, so much so that they are now trying to stop kids from touching for fear of the what ifs!

Truth!

You know with some people they are scared to pick up the phone? Text and e-mail instead of a phone call. It's important! I want you to hear in my voice that you are a fucked retard. I think its important that people pick up on that. I don't respect you. I'm saying the opposite, but you know its true.

You can't do that over e-mail.

Internet forums yes, but not e-mail.

Part of learning not to do stupid shit is to experience why it is stupid.

lol i bet all it is, is someone in a supervisor role acting on fear.

too many kids injured. they're getting blamed for not doing anything about it.

the easiest thing is just to tell the kids no touching. if they touch, its their own fault. the fault and blame is outta the supervisors hands now. its not his responsibility because the rule supersedes any excuse.

easy way out.

Better yet, take out the slides altogether and give them iPads where they can virtually slide.

My son has been in Kindergarten for two months, and he has:

1) been punched in the face for stepping on another kid's LEGO truck and wrecking it, resulting in a scrape on his nose
2) face-planted into wood chips because someone pulled him off a platform, resulting in a scrape on his cheek

Same kid in both incidents!

After laughing about it, I told him to watch where he steps, block/dodge things coming for your face, and be careful on the playground. Also, hitting people when you're upset is not acceptable.

I didn't sue the other kid's parents, but I will stick my foot out to trip him if I see him walking down the hallway...

As ridiculous as this so-called policy is, I personally find it somewhat ironic because the only real injury which resulted in me going to the hospital was caused by my third grade teacher.

lol my principal actually try to sue my dad after he made a funny joke saying "we are all canadians" during a heated discussion about me & she got pretty pissed

i still remember i almost fell down from the top of the playground if it wasnt for the kids that pulled me back up, so seriously if the same thing happen to another kid & others didnt pull the kid up?

that kid could have been seriously injuried, but if the other kids pulled that falling kid back up then they be in trouble

so now the school is telling me that its either leaving a man dying or get in trouble for helping, great job

(sorry i just read the coles notes)

You know, my mom was good for a few moments at schools. My favorite, we picked my sister up from the High School, I'm about 10 or 11 at the time so what goes in gets parroted out. We're driving and I pipe up from the back seat, "aren't you going to tell mom what your teacher said to you?". Apparently, her math teacher had informed her that he was quite looking forward to failing her.

It was probably because my sister was in the rebellion phase where "screw the world, I'll use a calculator".

But my mom didn't see that logic. Full on power u-turn, back to school we go. My sister slumps down in her seat but I sit up in mine. This gunna be good.

I end up sitting in the office while they have the teacher called down to the conference room. Dude, the looks on the secretary's faces were classic. Mom went up one side and down the other.

My sister got a special friend that day. The vice principal decided to provide a little extra love that she needed. So much so that 7 years later when I went to that school, he asked if I was related to her and how she was doing.

Sometimes teachers have bad days, and they need to be reminded that kids can't be written off. He told her he was looking forward to failing her because she was being a snotty bitch in his classroom. I know this. My mom knew this.

The key here is my sister also got about 10 times the action at home, and was sentenced to physical labor that only a farm can provide.
