Brabus B63-S 700 Widestar (tuned G63 AMG) in Dubai Police Livery

Didn't want to make a separate thread but didn't seem like we have a dedicated thread in vat for this :P

Lots of high-res photos here http://hypercars.fr/2013/11/08/merce...lice-dubaiote/

Quote:
The Dubai Police is adding another exotic vehicle to its stable. This Brabus B63-S 700 Widestar--a tuned version of the Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG--has debuted at the 2013 Dubai Motor Show in police livery.
With 536 horsepower, the G63's 5.5-liter, twin-turbocharged V-8 is already pretty potent. However, Brabus fiddled with it and was able to extract an otherworldly 700 horses. With that extra power, Brabus says the B63-S 700 Widestar will do 0-62 mph in 4.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 149 mph--perfect for pursuit work.

The Brabus-tuned G-Wagen also features a wide body kit and 23-inch wheels. That looks pretty intimidating on top of the stock G-Class' boxy military bodywork, even without the police lights and brush guard.

The Brabus B63-S 700 Widestar police car may seem like a cheesy publicity stunt, but Brabus and the Dubai Police have serious plans for it. The SUV will be used to promote the "Tune It! Safe!" campaign, which started in Germany as a way to encourage drivers to modify their cars in a safe and legal manner. The program is being exported to the United Arab Emirates where, admittedly, there are a lot of modified cars.

While the Brabus G-Wagen is the epitome of over-the-top tuning, it will look positively mundane compared to some of the other cars in the Dubai Police motor pool, which includes a Lamborghini Aventador, Aston Martin One-77, and even a Bugatti Veyron.

The exotic police cars are primarily used for display in prominent tourist areas for promotional purposes.

For more from the Dubai Motor Show, check out our dedicated hub.

oh god I don't get the point of that SUV...or Dubai

I just did a Google search:
700hp, 0-60mph in 4.9 sec, 149mph topspeed

I have a feeling they got that just for "bling bling" factor, not how reliable it is as a police fleet.

ok if they wanted a fast police car, they should have got a GT-R

If they wanted to get a police SUV, they should've bought something like:

Did Dubai get a budget cut? Why didn't they get the G V12 S Biturbo?

Dubai was and is continuing to be built thanks to the blood of Indian slaves while the female servants from other countries such as the Philippines and Africa are physically and sexually abused in captivity.

Sorry for the derail.

Timpo I thought you hit rock bottom, but it appears you have managed to dig even deeper...

The reason Dubai buys cars like this for their police force is for publicity. The entire place is like a fucking theme park. Nothing they do is done because common sense dictates, it is done because it will cause more people to visit...

You think the Burj Khalifa was built after it passed a feasibility study? I can tell you most definitely not. The stuff they do is utterly pointless to any normal folk (think sand barge shaped like a palm tree), yet they continue to do it because normal people like us here in the real world find it so ludicrous that we are willing to fly to the other side of the planet to see it.

Honestly still can't tell if timpo is the biggest troll in RS history or just a retarded euro-fob.

I don't mind having him around though..keeps the place interesting. Kind of like the village idiot.

So.. what your saying is... they should get US domestic vehicles (with probably no access to maintenance parts locally) because the thing is cheaper and you're thinking it's more reliable..

Instead of a Merc which I'm sure they could just get parts delivered from Europe by truck.

Overnight parts from Europe nonetheless.

There's actually a lot of US cars sold in Middle East. Parts are not a problem.
But they do lack the exclusive image and "expensive" factor compared to the European brands. Meme said it perfectly. It's all a huge show down there.

These are the other one-off Police cars there.

with those 5 vehicles you could easily buy 10 soviet tanks. But since it's dubai they'd have to be gold plated with chromed out rims and a plush interior.
