Mercedes or BMW Dealers in the Lower Mainland?

Has anyone had any experience with the Mercedes or BMW dealers across the Lower mainland? Which one has good service, most room to bargain, etc..

My family is looking to buy a 2-3 years old pre-owned SUV sometime in the next week.

Any suggestions / tips?

Thanks in advance

I've purchased my last 3 BMW's from BJ. The service is ok but same could be said about any local BMW dealer because I haven't had expectational service from any of them.

One thing about BJ is they're very aggressive and will usually give you a price that no other dealer can match especially on their used stock. I've heard tho that BMW Langley is the same and are very aggressive with pricing. They're a new dealer so they're looking to a build a clientele. One word of caution, do your homework online on the model you're purchasing and make sure you take the car for a decent test drive. A lot of used BMWs sitting on loal dealer lots are from other parts of Canada, the price will usually reflect which cars you should be extra careful with even if they're CPO.

If you want the name of the SA I deal at BJ just PM me.

I've had nothing but phenomenal dealings with Skyler over at Mercedes Boundary. He's even gone as far as to bring in other cars from the other dealers so that i could do a comparison on some different trim levels. Most sales people won't do that, they just tell you what the differences are. Above and beyond.

Andrew yuen at boundary is also very good. Brings cars in at light speed from different dealers, very good service and customer support.

I've dealt with the Mercedes in the Richmond automall over the lease of our smart car. If you watch top gear, they are spot on with the comments about Mercedes customer service. Not that it was poor, but I swear that Mother Earth could carve a new Grand Canyon before anything would be completed on our car. Worlds slowest service, and when they kept our car for 2-3 days they were not willing to give us a courtesy car.

I have dealt with Kristoffer Ong from BMW Langley before, and nothing but good things to say.

I think that purchasing a pre-owned Mercedes or BMW is one of the dumbest things one can do. These things are horrendously expensive to maintain and aren't exactly shining examples of reliability. I really believe they're lease-only (free maintenance during the lease term) vehicles.

If your family has to money to spring for a used German money pit, why the heck not go for a new model of one of the many award winning SUVs from more reliable manufacturers?

Cue someone with a "it's an image thing" comment.

PS - How can a person "be a Canto"?

It's a term that means someone from Hong Kong. Surely you already knew that.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

I'll update everyone on the status of this.

Even though neither dealer got very good reviews from this thread, we have narrowed it down to 2 cars:
2011 Space Grey BMW X5, with 49000 KMs, from The BMW Store
2011 Black MB ML350 BlueTEC, with 40000 KMs, from MB Richmond.

We got a pretty good deal on both of them, so there isn't a very big difference in terms of price.

The Mercedes is 2k more expensive, but it has lower financing rates to make up for it.
The BMW has free maintenance for 1.5 year, the Mercedes doesn't have free maintenance.
The BMW has light leather interior, the Mercedes has black leather interior.
The BMW is gas, the Mercedes is Diesel.

If you guys had to pick, which one would you go for? Why?

X5, because it has warranty. I would not want to own a german car out of warranty. I have enough headaches owning one that still has warranty. Also because the X5 looks better then the ml, and I don't know enough about MB's diesel to know if I would face any weird problems later on.

Actually, I mis-typed it.

The both have warranty, but the X5 also has free maintenance for 1.5 years.
