Paul Walker Tribute Meet - WCCE - 12/7/13

There is a meet & cruise being hosted by WCCE. This was discussed in the other thread, but I thought it deserves its own thread.

The meet is happening this Saturday 07, 2013. The meet point will be at Lansdowne Mall in Richmond at 12:00pm. The plan is then to cruise through Vancouver up to Porteau Cove for a photoshoot. Later on that day $$$$$$$$ will be opening its doors for people to relax and watch The Fast & the Furious.

The event page on FB is at this link:

https://www.facebook.com/events/5475...9384/?source=1

Please be advised that the organizers are asking for people to donate $5 to the Philippines, as many know this was the cause for which Paul Walkers Charity event that day was trying to raise money for.

Please note that this event is not an RS sponsored event; however, there will be absolutely ZERO tolerance for stupid behavior or hooliganism. People have approached media outlets and radio stations for coverage of the cause and the event. So we do not want any bad press, if I hear or catch anyone behaving poorly you will be shamed out of the meet (if you don't believe me try it).

There is about 180 people confirmed at this point to attending this meet. So we do not want any bad publicity at such a large event.

In addition to this I have committed to having a set of stickers made that people can put on their cars (mock-up shown below). The idea behind this is I will have the sticker made at my own expense (I am also looking into seeing if a company would like to sponsor this effort to reduce some of my O/H costs on this). The stickers will be available at the meet by donation, and all the proceeds will be donated to the Philippines through Red Cross.

UPDATE: This meet is quickly gaining traction, at the rate we are going sounds like we might flood lansdowne mall and all the streets come cruise time. The FB event has over 250 people confirmed now, and for those 250 people, there is another 250 that will just spontaneously show up.

UPDATE #2:

With almost 1000 confirmed guests the lot simply would not manage that many people. The new plan is to meet at silvercity riverport and cruise to spanish banks.

Same meeting time of 12PM at silvercity riverport.

Bring your donations and some spare cash, Stickers will be available by Donation:

I was curious about this as I will attend and help promote this, but saw comments about doing burnouts and started rethinking my attendance.

This event will definitely not be the place for that type of behavior. I know the actual organizers of the event will not stand for this either.

I am not the person who organized this event, but I do know him. I am simply promoting this as I would like to see as many people as possible come out, pay their respects, enjoy themselves, and hopefully raise some money in honor of Paul.

That doesn't seem to have been the case for their past events.

Nevertheless, good cause, I'm sure lots of nice cars will be there.

You know how it is, the few asshats ruin the great things for the rest of us.

We can't let that stop the responsible and respectful ambassadors of the community from coming out to meets, because that would mean the retards have won, and they will destroy the reputation of all other car enthusiasts.

I know you're not, I'm friends with the organizer on facebook.

I agree this is a great cause. It allows the car community to come together to pay respects for a fellow car enthusiast, as well as raise money for the charity he was helping the day of his death... Oh and OF COURSE.... check out some hot vehicles  I'll be there

Last few times I was at Lansdowne around that time, the parking lots were pretty packed...

GotRice? 12-03-2013 12:37 PM

Landsdowne mall is a stupid location... their speed bumps is like a freaking mountain for a lowered car...

I want to add this in here, a huge thanks to N-Motion for helping me out with the stickers. I approached N-Motion and Peter Gill as I know they are a sponsor on RS and I have had them do some work on my car previously.

I sent Peter what can only be described as a rough mock up and he managed to do an awesome job and produce this:

Again stickers will be available at the meet on Saturday, come say hi, come grab them off me.

I will be in my FX and I think there are a couple other FX's coming as well.

Any dangerous driving will not be acceptable. There's always a talk given before any of my events and everything has worked out fine.

Will be great if you can get most of the attendees to donate. You should have some people collecting donations aggressively!

HondaGuy 12-03-2013 08:03 PM

Peter Gil is the man...he can custom design many decal styles...

Sounds like a fun charitable event... Too bad I cannot make it.
Hope many comes out and donate.

The cruise location was changed to Porteau Cove.

Too far for me, but I'll try to make it out to the meet at Lansdowne!

If my car is not out of the shop by Saturday, I'll be in a Corolla courtesy car.

Bad timing to go get your car repaired. No big deal though, coming is what counts.

I am assuming the BMW's insurance is covering the sideswipe given the fact that you had dashcam footage of it?

Yeah, the other guy admitted fault, so ICBC never even needed the footage.

Nicotine 12-04-2013 01:55 AM

Cant wait!
How many of the decals did you get made?

BoostedBB6 12-04-2013 07:58 AM

Over 450 cars in attendance now....I don't think the mall, or anywhere else for that matter will have space for that many cars.
Porteau Cove for sure will not.
Looks like this event is taking off. Hope to make it out to the cruise.

rs pre meet at taco luis!!

meme405 12-04-2013 10:35 AM

I will have 300 decals made by Friday. 50 in each colour.

Yeah this meet is quickly ballooning out of control. I mean at this point there is no way to move the event nor is there any place that will take that many cars.

leaving the parking lot is going to end up like this:

xXSupa 12-04-2013 05:59 PM

^Would be sick if somebody was able to get helicopter footage of the meet.

kunoman1 12-04-2013 06:00 PM

Welp looks like I'm going too!
