@6:50 the lady mentions Iodine-129 at 17 million years, this cant be good...
I'm not sure what iodine-129 has to do with fukushima, as there is none there at all

We know exactly how long everything lasts for. In fact we use it for dating things for millions of years (which is what we use iodine-129 for.. it's not used in reactors)
Here's a list of all the radioactive isotopes released in Fukushima (compared against Chernobyl too)
You can look up the half life of all of them. None of them are in millions or even thousands or even hundreds of years. Some are in the tens of years, but not released in a hugely significant amount outside the actual site of the accident.
It will get blown globaly but look at that fall out map, we'll have way more end up here and in north America. Most of our food comes from Mexico, California and Washington state I think and it will all be tainted.
edit - on another note if a major meltdown doesnt happen, what will be the consequences of living next to the Pacific ocean that will forever in our life time be contaminated?... this should mean no more local sea food, swimming in the ocean, and breathing in vapors at the beach?
Lastly people shouldnt look at the country Japan and feel they are responsible for the worst disaster on earth... its our rulers (beyond the CAN gov.) fault as Japan is not sovereign to begin with.
That map is not accurate, though. If you do a search for actual air currents, you'd see that in reality Hawaii would be really fucked. Same thing for ocean currents. Nevertheless, it'd have to be way worse than pool 4 totally melting down. If everything that's there gets fucked up, then yes, it'll be an issue. But again, it'll be in a global scale. Might be worse in BC, might not, but everyone will get fucked.

So we have 500,000 year particle shelf life ones?
Can we even trust this map or anything from the mainstream news... the system has been lying about the incident from the start.
edit - isnt that the activity life stats on the left side of the chart.
The men and women say TEPCO downplayed the danger of nuclear radiation on the site. The carrier's water supply became contaminated, that in turn led to crew members drinking, washing their bodies and brushing their teeth with contaminated water. Attorney Paul Garner, who is representing 51 sailors, said, “We’re seeing leukemia, testicular cancer and unremitting gynecological bleeding requiring transfusions and other intervention.” Garner says clients are suffering thyroid polyps and other thyroid diseases.
Why don't you put your money where your mouth is, and move to the east coast? If what these people are saying is true, then every day you are spending in Vancouver is exposing you to dangerous levels of radiation. Everything you eat is covered it in, and everything exposed to air is radiated.
So get the hell out of BC and live the rest of your life! If you think you can trust these idiotic sites that have been debunked time and time again, that you keep citing anyway, just go.
Or are you actually not serious about it, and just talking shit again

Actually, if you look at the map you posted, you'd see that the brunt of the currents go to Alaska, and some of it to the West Coast.
Basically, it says that they've detected contamination in urine from samples taken in Fukushima Prefecture, a sample or two in Chiba Prefecture, a lot in Miyagi prefecture, and pretty much nothing from the rest of the country. The wind blows south, hence a little bit in Chiba. There's nothing there, absolutely nothing to indicate that there is widespread contamination. Sure, if there's another super strong earthquake, yeah, there'll be a problem, but do you even know how many nuclear facilities there are in north America? If an earthquake hits here on the west coast, we'll be fucked too.

I truly want to leave this continent, even tomorrow, but this no walk in the park, it takes money that I dont have.
That's funny. Because the #1 animal instinct we all share is survival. So if you truely believe you are seriously in danger, you will do whatever you need to do to survive at all costs.
Lack of money is not a reason, it is a self-applied excuse. If you really wanted to survive you would not say "I don't have enough money to survive" you say "Survival is the target, so what do I need to do to get there"
Otherwise you are a lazy beta sheep. Not strong enough to go your own way. Following the masses, regardless if you're eyes are open, is still following the masses.
I want to survive for as long as possible but at the same time Im risking the odds to collect enough money and have a better quality of life for when I do move. How long will it take to completely remove all the spent fuel rods and what are the chances of a meltdown in that time. Ive read the window of clean up is 4-5 years... so anything can happen in that time... if things go as planned after, then it would safe enough to move back if I wanted, and the water will still be contaminated.

Ive read of initial radiation detected in the eastern states and milk from Washington state had radiation in it which was concentrated from the grass the cows ate... those particles may have had a short life... so there could be more to this like these jet stream flows.

I agree there are probably nuclear risks here too... but the Fukushima plant is fragile and with the high rates of earth quakes in japan, it could be the biggest disasters in the making.
Yes I design cars all day... and not to be original, but to create the best looking mid engine car. Here is a rehash of the corvette concept... worthy of going off topic

I get a kick out of reading these sensationalist stories, but I don't put too much stock in them. Of course the west coast will suffer to some extent due to fukushima, but I think there are many more factors that distribute and dilute the radiation FAR more than these stories care to discuss. I won't worry about it TOO much.
But I could look at drawings of cars like that ALL DAY LONG.
I command you to redeem yourself by posting linkys to more of that beautiful artwork!!!!
Look up the Sard MC8, Toyota already used a lengthened MR2 chassis in the mid 90's to stuff a V8 into for racing... it didn't do very well. You can't build a new car off a 2 decade old chassis............. even Ford/GM eventually figured that out in the 80's hahahaha
Cic, give me your address so I can send you americium in large quantities to your residence
