bring packages into US to ship Just want to ask what are some implications when I want to bring packaged goods (I run a online website) to US /Blaine and ship it with USPS. The reason is obviously shipping within US is much much cheaper than shipping with Canada Post from Canada. Anyone being doing this? Do I have to pay duty + taxes to US customs? |
no, you just have to go in US customs to pay a business fee. it was like $10. but you can cut in-line and use the business lane |
thanks, can you elaborate more on this 'business fee'. is it per package or time or subscription? |
I asked some super nice guard at Point Roberts that a couple weeks ago He said there's only a fee of like 10.75 or something, then you can ship as many packages as you want No other charges Just don't completely seal the package in case they want to check what's in it |
Ok great. That sounds way much better than what I had expected |
You may need to look into whether you need an Import/Export number. I shipped some auto parts to across the border and on the way back the guard asked what they were for, I said "my truck", he said "this one?" with my business logo on the door. And then sent me inside to register and do a bunch of commercial imporation stuff. Not sure how it works going the other way. |
