Shaw PVR Expander - Discontinued?

I was looking for A Shaw PVR expander and noticed that nobody (including Shaw) carries it anymore. Is there a reason why it has been continued?

Expanders caused too many issues with all models of dct so they are no longer offered. you can still buy an external hard drive with esata connection and should work but shaw will not support it.

In the same boat my "official" shaw expander just died.

Will probably replace it with a Vantec 3.5 enclosure and a 2TB drive.
