2010 Toyota Corolla - Battery Issue?

Background: Sister drove car to work and parked for say 10 hours outside on side street. After work, got back to the car and wouldn't start. No clicking sound, nothing lighting up on dash. I went to jump start the car, starts up fine. This morning, starts up fine. Took the car to shop to get battery inspected, battery is in good condition.

Any thoughts on what possibly could be the issue? I believe something was left on that drained the battery. Besides what I believe, is there any other possible reason? The car is only 3 years old, too new for battery to die so fast.

You just said it. Something may have been left on that drained the battery.

Even if the battery was brand new and lets say you left your headlights on for that long of a time, your car wouldn't start.

Got a new battery for our 2010 Venza last year, nothing left on that drained the battery, pretty surprised I had to get a new one at less than 60000kms

Possibly corroded terminals, try giving them a good cleaning.

It's not unheard of for car batteries to fail within 3 years/60,000 kms. In any case, if the shop checked the electrical system (checked for draws, bad cells in battery, alternator charging properly) and everything was okay, she may have left the dome light on or left her phone charging off the cigarette lighter.

like hks pwr said get your mechanic to test your alternator see if its charging properly, check your grounds and like dared3vil0 said check your terminals and clean it... corolla are simple cars nothing complicated in it and should be a easy fix...

Might as well slap some dielectric grease on the terminals while you're at it to prevent corrosion. I agree that she might have left something on though, it's unlikely that there would be no power at all otherwise.

That said, we did have to replace the battery on a Civic after 3 years though, it was abused pretty heavily (5+ starts in a day, parked outside, corroded terminals, etc.) so it could happen.

She left something on in the car. Simple as that.

Getting 3-4 years out of a battery with modern cars is very normal.
Often times people will performance multiple starts and short drives which does not allow the battery to be charged properly. Add in the use of aux electrical accessories, more and more electrical gadgets in the car and it is easy to see why they die in such a short time.
It was common some years ago to see a standard battery go after 5-7 years but now its much shorter of a time.

Aside from human error (which seems to be the case) the two words in the same sentence are non-existent.
