Auto Market Canada inquiry

So recently I listed one of my vehicles for sale on Craigslist. A few days later I received a call from a company called "Canada Auto Market". They explained to me they buy/sell used vehicles and that they were interested in buying my car.
They explained to me they could sell my car for $xx,xxx and help me find a buyer. They make money off the financing from the buyer. I wasn't interested unless I could receive the asking price for my vehicle. Without any hesitation he said it shouldn't be a problem. The fee they charge is $500 for advertising and what not. I told them so long as they were able to get me my asking price and I could pocket that amount, I would consider it. After a few more questions they told told after lining up a potential buyer and he's approved for the loan/financing, I would be paid in full by certified cheque before releasing my vehicle.

I might be missing out a few details, but I'm curious if this company has contacted other members about buying your vehicle for sale. A gut feeling tells me something is sketchy. None of my friends or family have heard or dealt with them before. Quick Google searches brought up nothing. Their company name is too vague to get any real results. I never believe testimonials on sites, I always think the company writes their own lol.

Here's the link.

If anyone out there has dealt with this company or can give me any information, that would be greatly appreciated.

TIA

Oldest scam in the book. Are they asking for the $500 upfront? If so run.

If they are asking for the money before you have cash in your hand for the sale of the car, it's a scam. Run.

They said I don't need to pay the service fee until I received payment in full. Still seems fishy.

They may be able to offer you some extra exposure by advertising on their website but at the end of the day they still need to find someone to pay you the full asking price AND get that client approved for financing. It is quite the process and they will still negotiate with you on your price. You are asking "X" and they have a client but they will only pay you "Y", would you consider selling for less? Most likely it is some sort of scam.

Personally I would stay away from places like that. Craigslist and AutoTrader are free to advertise so you might as well just sell it yourself.
